QD safe for a very dusty car?

OK, this is the situation: I just washed my MPV this morning and dressed the tires. Unfortunately, when I went to a state park to have a BBQ, I had to drive through very dusty roads (if I had known there were going to be dusty roads, I wouldn't have washed the car) to get to the BBQ site. After I got out of the car after parking, it was completely dusty and the tires looked very nasty on the outside areas because it got into contact with the dust. The dust is not caked onto the surface because it was waxed with Collinite 2 weeks ago and just washed this morning. The dust is very fine and can definitely come off with a swipe of my finger. However, due to the amount of dust, I'm worried about using QD. I'm using Mother's Showtime QD, but I'm worried as to whether or not the dust will scratch the paint surface. I certainly don't wish to wash the car again tomorrow because I just spent a good hour cleaning it today.

An alternative I was considering was to thoroughly rinse down the car and get most dust off, dry using Absorber by ONLY blotting, no wiping whatsoever, and then use the QD to get rid of the leftover dust. Would that be dangerous for the paint nevertheless? Thanks for the help!

So, wash as in thoroughly rinse, or complete soap wash? Sorry, I'm a bit tired of washing so much... I'm having such nice weather here in NY for the next few days, really want to keep the car clean, though. Ah, the decisions :furious:

wash with shampoo and a little QD mixed in it! then top with a spray wax like optimum car wax (my new favorite wax) and if you need to QD every day, or every other, but I dont like to put towels to my truck all the time, so I dont ever QD anymore....

QD + any dust or dirt on the finish and liquid sand paper is created. I would not go more than 3 days after a full wash with a QD wipe down. When I QD in between washes I always California dust before hand. There are too many contaminants on a car after 3 or 4 days.

A good wash never hurt and that is what I would do. If you don't want to do that the next best option is to spray it down with QEW in a bug, pump up sprayer. Do the entire car and then go over it again and finally dry. Then use Poorboys SW or the Duragloss QD to pick up what little should be left. Quite frankly, a shampoo and dry is not much more trouble. Try FK425 as a final QD next time you have a fairly clean car as it does a pretty fair job of repealing dust.
