QD seems to be a quick way to clean your car since you dont have time to do a "real" wash.

I was wondering if it is bad to clay after you QD. Should you "only" clay after a real wash and not a QD? Yes I will wax right after. Comments?

While QDing is quicker than doing a real wash, it is not near as thorough and you risk particles still being on your paint and you abrading them into the paint while claying or applying the wax. I would always wash the car before claying. If you want to save time, use the suds from the wash as your claying lubricant. In other words, have the wash mitt in one hand and the clay in the other. There is still some risk that particles could be mixed up in the suds but this way is much better than QDing only.

it would be better to wash the car first, and then clay. you never know what's bonded to the paint (run the risk of marring the finish) that just a normal QD might not take off...

Please don't forget that after claying you should (in my opinion) use a paint cleaner, then polish BEFORE waxing.

Would it be acceptable to wash the car and rinse it, skip the drying step, spray the clay lube over the wet paint, clay each panel and just rinse the clay lube off with the hose as you go? Then at the end you can dry it. How does this sound?
