I have a 2003 Ford Focus in Black and a 2004 Dark Red Sporttrac. I want to strip the wax down to the clearcoat on both and start over. The paint on my Sporttrac is near perfect and smooth. The paint on my Focus is near perfect with some swirling to remove. You can only see the swirls when you look at an angle in the sun. I have taken good care of the car. I plan on using my new PC and I already have the Pinnacle Clay Kit. I was planning on buying most of my stuff from this website if not all of it. I figure yall are helping me out so I'll spend my money here and support this site.

I planned on buying the Sonus pads for my PC. What are the best polishing /buffing towels to get? I have my sealant already at home. I need a cleaner/polisher/swirl remover, and I was thinking of the PS21 for the final coat. Can yall please help me out.? I want my car and truck looking the best. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.:xyxthumbs

longarm you might want to look into the 1Z line of products. I love using them and i think you will be very happy with the results. You can start with a dawn wash clay and 1Z PP topped with S100 or P21S.

METICULOUSMAN,

Thanks for the quick post. I planed on using the Dawn to strip the wax, then clay with my Pinnacle Kit. I'm just going to all of you to figure out the rest as far as products. I'm especially confused about the Microfiber deal. I don't know which one to buy for which. I think that's where alot of my swirl marks came from was the cheap pack of micro-fiber towels I bought from Walmart and used on my paint to buff.

:( :nono

Has anyone used the Mr. Clean Car Wash Stuff? I have very hard well water. I thought of hooking up my hose right to my water softener, but I'm not sure. I usually just go a couple miles from my house and use the 1/4 car wash and bring my own stuff. I use two buckets, one wash and one rinse. Then I use their spot free rinse and drive home very carefully. Once home I spray down my car with Meguires detail spray to get off all the dust accumilated on the way home. I wax and stuff in my garage after I have cleaned it out and all dust has settled. Is this an ok method of detailing?

Skip the freeeeekin Dawn !!!!! If ive said it once ive said it a million times! Sorry for the attitude, but its a regular weekly reply of mine, here and on every other forum i belong too......Between the clay and polish, your going to be clean...Dawn isnt really necessary, and the only reason its reccommneded by a WHOPPING 1 manufacturer/supplier (Rhymes with Pain-o) is so there assured a good bond. Last time i recalled seeing a Dawn label it was for removing grease a.k.a. animal fats, petroleum products. The latter of the two are in every bit of plastic and artificial rubber/trim on your vehicle......Use Dawn for dishes and not surfaces......Check Lynns thread for MF suppliers....

I can skip the Dawn step. I had planned on lightly going over the paint after washing with a rubbing alcohol/water mix. I've got Mothers Back to Black and 303 for the trim. That helps out alot!

I have a question for the webdaddy here on this site.

I just added up everything I'm going to be ordering, and it looks to be just over $200.00. Are their any available discounts? My wife is gonna kick my a$$ when she finds out how much I want to spend. :scared :shocked

I'll post a shopping list before I purchase anyting though. That way yall can tell me if I'm overdoing it. I have that habbit. Well, taking care of my vehicles is my hobbie.

I agree that the dawn is not necessary but its not going to hurt the one time usage for his newer cars to strip everthing off. I also don't see the label on a jar of peanut butter claim it helps remove dried wax from plastic trim but Ive used it in the past with great results.

Peanut butter is probably good for plastic and rubber though......As for the Mr. C. Your going to find mixed reviews here at Autopia. I had one, used it on my truck and was easily impressed. Im discouraged from further use due to the leaking soap filler cap, and the fact thtat it felt like it removed all my sealant! The water did dry spotless, but i didnt like the way it felt while QD'ing......The mineral-less rinse is more of a mist then a rinse, the water exits the applicator way too fine.....
