PT Cruiser Detail...

My friend has a PT Cruiser (first model year, not sure if it was '00 or '01 or whatever) and the black trim around the doors has a dry white chalky color to it. I have seen it on other cars but especially noticed it on numerous PT Cruisers and it looks horrible. I am not sure, but I think the new Cruisers have changed material or something to remedy the problem. I wanted to get some help in making it look better. Is there any polish/cleaner/wax/all-purpose products that may help improve the look of the chalky black trim?? If so,anything to help maintain the black look?

Thanks!

If it is the textured type or smooth rubber, use Poorboy's Trim Restorer ... Make sure you shake it up real good first.
If it is smooth plastic that is supposed to shine, any type of cleaner polish like AIO or PP should work.
