Prototype Machine Polishing Testing....

I received a call about a year or so back from a gentlemen who was developing a new machine for polishing paint and had many questions to ask me based on my experiences.

We talked for an hour or so as he probed my mind...

Now a year later I just got another call from him with the finished product and he'd like me to give it the "once over" and test it out for him. I have no idea what kind of machine it is but I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I will keep you updated.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with him and I have the general specs (very general) on the machine.....

btw, it is not from a vendor or sponsor or anyone like that, this guy is some engineer or whatever and was developing a machine to polish lenses for Dr.'s, like Microscopes and surgical instruments and such but found that market very difficult so decided to refine his own machine and came up with something he thought the car industry might be interested in.

He's been working on it for over two years now and wants me to test it out more objectively.

Little does he know there is very little that impresses me these days....

He's also developed a compound/synthetic/wax AIO that he thinks is the next M105 but with protection added (no he has no idea what 105 is) but I'll bet it's not as great as he thinks.

We will see how it goes, I have an appointment with him Tues.

I'll keep you all posted of course.

I'm going to try to talk him into letting me keep it for a while and properly play with it on some family cars to see what I really think.

It's got to back able to stand up to the beating a good 20+ hour job will give it. :faint:

Plus I will be able to do side by side comparisons with my PC and Makita with the exact same pad/polish combo's on the same paint. Should be fun to play scientist and experiment for a little bit.

Sound neat, be sure and post some pics ;)

Sorry, but I don't think the owner would like me to post pics, he doesn't know I'm posting this thread to my knowledge.

Plus with it being unofficial, if it went big, I could probably get into some sort of legal trouble.... :banned:

Probably just going to play it low key for now but I'll give non-sensitive info as I'm able.

I dont even know where to start thinking of what a new machine would run like? I would have thought everything would have been invented by now? you have you typical DA's, your FLEX's, The Festool's, BO6040's, and the rotary dynabrade, and the plane Ol' Rotarys? Ive even seen those crazy cylinder buffers?

What could this possibly be like?

Maybe a refined/upgraded version of one of the above.:2thumbs::buffing:
