Ok here it is I'm building my ultimate car and need some opinions.



The car 1968 VW Beetle on 1971 chassis, Porsche 944 brakes and Porsche 914 engine built up to 2270cc. It's going to be Carrara White with 17" Fuch wheels. I have the front seats from a 2003 Audi TT , they are the amber red optic baseball option. Now for my dilema Audi never offered a back seat with this leather do I take the chance of a mismatch and get it custom coverd or do I scratch the back seat all together. Those with two seaters what's the every day problems you face with only two seats. thanks for the help.

It's not like you are going for a factory look. Who's going to ride back there anyway. Lots of room for any type of stereo.

BlackRegal , that was my first thought two and I wa able to source the OEM leather but the cost is pretty high $1000.00 a hide and the leather is stamped with a golf ball type pattern. So I may stuck with the thought of recovering all the seats with the color I like with out the pattern. Now onto the question does anyone know a good upholster in the the philly area. thanks

Call KatSkinz and they can send you new leather fitted for the front and rear seats. You can have a local upholstery shop put in new padding and wrap your seats with the leather. It may cost a little more but it will make it much easier.

I would dismiss the rear seat and use that space for the CD changer, crossover, bosster, woofer and subwoofer and for some extra sound isolation from the huge boxer back there. (On the other hand, if you are single, you may re-consider having a back seat handy...

detailbarn- Cool project! Considering the sort of ride you're building, *I* would ditch the back seat and go with the rollbar.



I've had a few two-seaters, and I VERY seldom needed to take a different car (or let someone else drive) because of it. I usually just use the backseat for stashing stuff anyhow. I had a "kinder seat" in the back of a Mercedes SL, and the only occupant it ever had was the dog. And for me, a person's "Ultimate Car" is really all about the DRIVER, not about accomodating multiple passengers.



I think you'll be opening a whole can of worms (especially expense-wise) if you try to do the seat, and I myself would rather have a rollbar. Yes, rollbars (or better yet a cage) can be a good idea, even if you only drive it on the street. That car's not gonna be slow, and even if YOU aren't the one who makes a mistake, imagine being in there if there IS a major accident. Early VWs don't fair too well in wrecks, and neither do their occupants. A nice triangulated cage would, IMO, help you really appreciate what that car can do, without worries about getting hurt. It'd stiffen the car up a bit, too- and look cool.



And as others are saying..you'll need somewhere to put the stereo stuff.



And hey, I *DO* remember being single, but come on...the back seat of a souped up VW? I'll assume everyone's being facetious!
