Products overhead...

I might be doing some sort of partnership with a audio/video shop and was wondering if some of the pros here with fixed locations can PM me, or post here, prices for everything used during a detail, plus an avg. price for insurance monthly... I don't have a detail scheduled for another 2 weeks and I'm going in to talk to the owner about this so I can only roughly estimate how much product is used, etc.

Any help is appreciated, thanks

I would think you could get the $ per car from someone that has an expense line item for "materials" and could divide it by number of cars.................

$400 / 100 cars = $4 per

I would think you guys would share more P&L %s here, not revenue #s just %s....

Ivan perhaps something like a spreadsheet that has:

ITEM: ONR

UOM: 32OZ

COST: $15.95

AmtUsd: 2 Oz

PPU: $0.9968

ITEM:Degreaser

UOM: 5 Gal

COST: $34.95

AmtUsd: 10 Oz

PPU: $1.0921

etc?

I use excel and use formulas to cost out stuff. It only gets you to a ball park figure, not really accurate. but, "ITEM" is the item used for the detail. UOM, is Unit of measure of the initial container (bulk pak). Cost is well the cost of the bulk 5 gal or other size container. Amount used is figuring is what you plan on using MAX per detail. If its sprayable like a degreaser then I use a 32oz sprayer and mist on my products, 10Oz is just a figure I made up as an example....

is that similar to what you want?

edit 1: PPU is price per use, thats per 10oz or per 2oz, etc....so if you use 2 oz of ONR for a detail then you used approx $1.00 of product. Now if you really want to get good results with this then you have to ADD shipping into item cost, or charge the customer a fuel/travel fee if you are mobile.

edit 2: changed formating/layout

That's exactly what I'm looking for... I don't necessarily need exact pricing of certain products, just a general amount used... I know I use 4oz. of Meg's GC soap every wash but I lost the list where I averaged out polish use, etc.

I'll send you my spreadsheet if you want Ivan, so you can have a look see!

Most of the chemicals in it are from a local distributor that me, Brandon, Junebug and some other guys use. I am going to revise it, but I'll send you what I have if you want it.

I guessed on all the polishes/etc on amounts used!
