Products for Bright Silver

Long time reader, first time poster.



I have tried tons of products over the years and turning to the experts for some advise. I am looking to build a detailing kit for my car. It's bright silver, year and half old. I maintain it on a regular bases. I wax as often as I can and use speed detailer in betweem. The car has no garage, so it's in the weather all the time. I am not comfortable with buffers, so I wear out my arms when waxing. My car is an everyday driver. There is some hairline scratches I'd like to get out, but most say my car still looks like it's showroom material. Any case, what products can you recommend for me? A complete list would be cool. I really would like the Silver to pop as much as possible, but also keep in mind the durability of the weather. It'd like to remove the hairline scratches as much as possible.

ok silver is my fav color on cars so heres my arsonal...

I got a PC buffer (can not mess paint up with this baby....)

I also use the FULL Menzerna line from the Power Gloss down to the FMJ...

I have every c.c.s. pad you can think of from yellow to black



SO far what has worked best for me is my pc with my green pad using the po106ff, and going DIRECTLY to FMJ, I REALLY GIVES silver a great liquid look just amazing is all I have to say. I would start there never be afraid to use the PC.



Just a side note, my 03 mini cooper has never been garged, the paint looks better now then it did off the lot.
 
Silver is your favorite color?



I think once you get more experience, black will be your favorite color to detail because it shows EVERYTHING and if you do it perfect, it shows...
 
I agree completely with the above poster...FMJ on silver is one of the best I have seen. Another top choice would be Werkstatt.
 
There are alot of good choices. In additon to the products already mentioned, you might consider Duragloss 105 or Collinite 845 & 476S. All of theses products are good in the looks department, and have outstanding durability.



Another product that I like on silver is Poorboys EX-P, but the durability is not the greatest.
 
I like zaino on silver. I don't know if your silver has any flake, but I did a silver Saturn Vue redline with zaino and the flake in that was awesome. I did a BMW not too long ago with zaino and loved the way the silver came out, no flake but it still looked really good.
 
I have been using Mother's FX Synwax on my silver Audi. It just glows and the flake jumps out. Not an exotic product, but works great. Also, the FX Spraywax is outstanding. Good booster and great slickness. The only other thing to mention, is be sure to clay before applying anything...makes a great difference.
 
Werkstatt is always nice on silver :)

Is it metallic? I worked on a metallic Toyota this past weekend, washed, clayed, polished finishing down with poliseal and then buffed off with Optimum spray wax, then I hit is with a coat of OS. Pulled it out into the sun and I have never seen metallic look so good. The owner said it looked like a fishing lure.



As always 99% of the work is in the prep/polishing.
 
Thank you for all the advise so far. Tons of products to look up and do some research on. As for the last response, yes it's Metallic. Bright Silver Metallic to be exact.
 
Another vote for Werkstatt on silver (Prime/AJ Trigger/Acrylic Glos). The lighting is pretty poor in the picture below, but the flake really sparkles in the sunlight.
