COME AT ME BRO
The forecast called for rain all weekend, so you know what that means – bright and sunny detailing weather. Haha!! Picked this stuff up at Auto Zone to give a try. Several recent posts had peaked my interest, and I obviously don’t have anything better to do with my money or time then buy and use detailing supplies. Here’s yet another amateur review. For some reason I consider EO A2Z my benchmark for wheel cleaners, so I guess I will write this review in a comparing light to A2Z. Here goes….I’ll try to field any questions if anyone has any.
Packaging: Packaged in a bright yellow bottle with blue spray nozzle. The yellow and blue are staple colors to this three step product line. The sprayer on this cleaner is pretty comfortable to use. It doesn’t take a lot to pull the trigger, and when you do, it’s easy on the fingers. It feels as if you can actually pull the trigger faster than the sprayer can work however. I had to control my sprays and not go too fast.
Price: $5.99 USD for 24 ounces of product. I wasn’t too excited at paying more for this than my tried and true EO A2Z. I honestly think it’s a little overpriced. I believe I pay $4.49 USD (or something like that) for A2Z.
Directions: The directions state to spray on the wheel/tire and let “penetrate” to do the cleaning. They state for heavier dirt, agitation with a sponge or brush may be used. I found that spraying on – rinsing off did not achieve my desired results, so I used my trusty brush. Direct and to the point directions.
Product: Has no strong scent to speak of, which is actually good for a wheel cleaner I suppose. Some of the ones I have used have a strong odor of chemical or they try and mask it with a loud citrus scent. This stuff was refreshingly “odorless.” Has a very light greenish looking color when puddle on the wheel, but I couldn’t really see into the bottle to determine a real color. Claims it is pH neutral, non-corrosive (no matter how long contact is), & acid free.
Usage: I sprayed onto a dirty set of wheels that were in need of a desperate cleaning. I don’t think the pictures will show just how dirty these were. Take my word for it; they were dirty by my standards. Let it sit for a few seconds and then agitated with the brush. It seemed to do the job, but I honestly don’t think it’s in the same league as EO A2Z. Maybe it’s due to not having any “harsh” chemicals in it, but I just don’t feel it has the same cleaning power. It did a decent job however, and I would say that it’s a good wheel cleaner. It does the job without being too harsh and foul smelling. I will not be replacing my A2Z with this however.
Overall, it’s a decent product that I think will be more popular because of the name associated with it than for what it can achieve cleaning-wise. It’s not better than A2Z and won’t be taking its place anytime soon.
