As of yesterday, I read about levelers for the first.

My question is: What is the difference between a leveler and compounds?

Compounds (polishes in general) can be considered "levelers." In one form or another, polishes are designed to "level" swirl marks. What makes a swirl diminish, is the polishes ability to "level" the surrounding surface area to a depth found acceptable which minimizes/diminishes the swirl.

Now throw in "glaze."

I have also seen glazes referred to as levelers. Quite the opposite with a glaze. They're designed to bring the swirl, level with the very top of the paint/cc. This temporarily minimizes light swirls....
