Product & pad suggestions for oxidized older paint

My brother recently bought an '86 Buick Regal. For 20 years and 73k miles, it almost looks amazing--thank a garage most of its life for that--but it still has a few areas that could be improved.

Mainly, the sides are very glossy and look great, but the hood, roof, and trunk suffer from expected oxidization and general dulling. Not too extreme, but I've never really dealt with that before and never worked with older single-stage paint, so I'm not sure what to use.

I have a PC with basic black (wax/sealant), white (polishing), yellow (cutting) pads, and polish wise have some Menzerna IP & FP, Meguiars Fine Cut of some sort, Klasse AIO (not really a full polish, but can do some wonders sometimes). He tried using my PC with the yellow pad and both some IP and whatever Meguiars he has, but there wasn't a whole lot of effect.

Given the PC + single stage older paint, what would be the best pad(s) to use and what kind of first step polish/compound would likely work the best? I want to get stuff ordered this weekend, but just wasn't sure on specifics yet.

Oh, and here's the car, just for an idea (that stuff on the hood was early morning dew/frost--it's the roof and trunk that have the more noticeable oxidization & such):

AIO eats through oxidation as well as anything in my experience.. I'd recommend applying it by hand with MF cloths first and then using the pc for a 2nd pass, since SS oxidation can gum up pads very quickly.

What kind of pad? I assume one of my yellow cutting pads, then follow with a white maybe?

After he said (I'm away at school) that he tried with a yellow and both IP and a Meguiars cutting and didn't get much of a change, I thought he needed something stronger first. That, and I know AIO can do a lot, I just kinda doubted what it could do here, plus on CMA's site they kinda describe paint condition similar to parts of this, and say it would need something heavier duty first THEN hit it with AIO. What would be that heavier duty "before"?

Some parts seem like oxidation, but also parts like the roof just seem dull and flat--I know it's probably just really heavy oxidation, but just thought it's worth mentioning.

Orange...........

Im not sure if your referring to a Yellow cutting pad or Meguiars 8006 yellow polishing pad, they're completely different pads. Anything with severe oxidation, would get hit with a paint cleaner first, (This allows for better polish performance) then a polish.

On really oxidized finishes I like Meguiars Body Scrub but ColorX is a decent replacement. Never used AIO but it seems like its well liked. Once you get the oxidation off, a good polish will fix any defects. Then follow with Megs #7 or your favorite glaze.
