Im about to start from scratch and use a PC. I want the best wetness, cleaniest car, deep shine. What is everyone using for products? I know thats hard to ask to get the best shine. I just want to throw everything out in my garage from over counter products and buy everything from all categories from chrome cleaner to trim cleaner you know.

I will be doing my car with Optimum Polish, Prime Strong, topped with Carnauba Jett and Natty's Blue on Wednesday. I'll post that combo then.

Natty's go good with anything, Blue or regular Natty's...

Here is my favorite process on Black:

--Wash w/what ever you like ( I prefer Optimum wash)

--Clay w/what ever you like (Again Optimum for me)

--Optimum Hyper Compound via PC w/cutting or polishing pad (depending on condition)

--Optimum Polish via PC and a polishing pad

--Werkstatt Prime "Strong" via PC and a polishing pad

--Werkstatt Carnauba Jett by hand

--Poorboy's Natty's Blue by hand (Or ClearKote Carnauba Wax/Trade Secret/EX sealant)

--Quikshine QD after every wash

Meguiar's/Propel/Lake Country for pads

Any questions...

I would probably use dawn first to strip wax off then use clay then use a car wash product, then go to the polishes. right? I never heard of werkstatt. whats the best place to order from?

Why use dawn? The polishes will remove anything that is on there. Get yourself a dedicated car shampoo/wash.

If polishing is going to remove swirls, honestly, don't you think it will also remove any wax or polish already on the car?

You can dawn wash if you want, but I would spened the extra time polishing or laying down a good clay job.

The clay will remove anything anyways, so will the polish. In the end it's your detail do what you want. Don't listen to us... :D

Skip the Dawn wash. It will not remove Zaino, just oils and silicone from waxes.

Polishing will remove any protectant.

Wash and clay vehicle in one step (wash water as lube).

Polish. Rinse off to remove any polish dusting.

Dry and inspect work.

Satisfied?

Apply LSP.

Yeah, I don't worry about Dawn doing anything detrimental, but it lacks lubricity and can thus result in wash-induced marring. In my experience, it will only strip/compromise the most fragile of LSPs; it won't strip a decent coat of wax, that's for sure, let alone Zaino. If you really want to do that (ok, it *can* gum up polishing pads now and then) I'd use rubbing alcohol on a soft MF.

Clay doesn't remove much LSP if used correctly/gently. I spot-clay at *every* wash and it doesn't take off my LSPs to an appreciable extent. IIRC, Sal Zaino said that proper claying might remove "half a layer" of Zaino.

I'd treat b/c black like any other b/c paint. Clearcoat is clearcoat. Single stage black is different (much softer)....

Pick a polish line and you oughta get good results if the technique is OK. I prefer user-friendly products, but everybody has their favorites and there isn't much bad stuff out there from the known-quantity companies.
