Process and Waiting time

I was wanting to know what the correct waiting times for layers wax and sealants, and also the alcohol wipe downs between different stages of correcting

My Process

Wash

De-wax

Clay

Wash

Compound

Glaze

Polish

Wax

Wax

-or-

Sealant

Sealant

I don't wait any amount of time in between, Ive seen some post about waiting for the next day to apply another coat of wax or apply another coat of a sealant on the vehicles surface.

Mothers Professional Product Line recommends using the glaze then their polish after that.

Way too many steps IMO. Wash, polish and apply one layer of sealant or wax. Clay if the car really needs it. Keep it simple.

Mothers and Professional Line is an oxymoron!!

Your stages seems a bit skewed. Are you charging people for what it is you are doing, assuming you are performing work as you have outlined - polish after glaze, wax before sealant??

If your doing more than one layer of sealant, check to see if the manufacture has a set wait time. I know that Ultima says to wait 12hrs between coats.

Okay, that's usually what I do, I don't clay unless the car needs it, this is an example when I detail a really neglected car.

The products I use are called Mothers Professional Compound, Mothers Professional Machine Glaze, and Mothers Professional Polish

Mothers® Professional Refinishing System

Yeah If a customer asks me to do a particular thing, ex: just a simple wax, I do a simple wax, if they say do what ever it is to make it look like yours, I usually have to do these steps to get it to the condition of my car, but I don't do this entire procedure on every car I do, only the ones I'm told to do. I always try the least aggressive method first, I try never to compound a car, unless its in dire need.

If doing a correction job your process should be something like this..

Wash

Clay

Compound

Polish

Seal

Wax

I don't usually apply a wax and sealant when detailing, I usually look at the paint, dark color usually use wax,, lighter colors and cars customers tell me to apply a sealant I apply a sealant. That's why I added -or- right before sealant, I usually go either wax -or- sealant, I usually never apply a sealant, then a wax, don't sealants lock in the paint?
