1. Do you guys have a special procedure which you follow when you go out on jobs??? Anything that makes it work faster???

2. Could you give me an example of a typical full exterior wash, step-by-step???

Here's a great write up by David on a full exterior wash. Check out his other "How to" articles also as they are very informative.

As far as making the process faster, for me there was a learning curve for my car when I first got it. You kinda learn the curves and angles of the car and how water flows. Also the drying with water technique is a big time saver for me.

Thanks for the quick reply. But it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. Sorry for not being specific. I was actually looking for a full step-by-step procedure on exterior wash and polish/wax/etc. You know, the whole deal. Thanks.

-prepare water + car wash soap

-wash hood/roof/trunk lid

-go around car starting w/ driver side fender + work around the car

-wash tires+ wheels

-clay car (Optional)

-risne after claying

- dry car

-dry wheels

- polish

- wax

-dress tires

- apply any other trim dressing

EDITED TO FIX MISTAKES

Hello nosed_b18b and welcome to Autopia. :wavey

To be perfectly honest, what you are asking for is far, far too much for anyone to fully describe here. You could list some of the steps like LouisanaJeeper did, but if you want a total walkthrough of a washing and polishing and waxing procedure, it's really best to read up on it yourself.

There are many variables and personal choices to make when washing and especially the rest of the detailing process. Someone may give you what he/she does, but there is no one definitive "recipe" for detailing your vehicle and there may be many ways to accomplish a process.

The link Greg supplied is great, and I'd also suggest combining that with the Search feature here to help fill in any blanks. There is a ton of info available, with some of the more basic materials covered more in the Archives. Good luck.

Awesome Louisianajeeper, that was what I was looking for.

Yes it's true that it would be pretty hard to list everything. But I just wanted a general idea of what you guys usually do.

One thing that confuses me a bit. Don't you have to dry your car before you apply any polishes??? In that list it shows drying as the last thing to do.
