Problems with SG, need something else.

Well I just can't get SG to bling. I always still have hazing, and just can't get it completely clear, even with WOWO.

So I was thinking of something else.

I am going to get a 4 inch cutter pad to help with the spiderwebbing that isn't cutting with the 6 inch pad, and then do the normal polish to shine, then AIO/SG but instead of SG, I would like to go with something else. Something that might come off a little easier. Does anyone have a suggestion for that.

Also what 4 inch cutting pad do you reccomend.

I am also thinking about getting a microfibre wash mitt for the new season. What are your thoughts on those?

Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection.

I hate MF wash mitts. They are not thick enough to pull the dirt and grime away from the paint and they don't seem to hold much soap/water.

The SG just amplifies what the paint surface is like...never had SG haze..if your paint has a haze..SG will show it..SG has no real depth to it..but is clear and bright..and will show all paint defects... maybe your paint needs a good finish polish to break any haze on paint if any..

get some wool mitts...MF mitts are not bad..but the wool is much better..

careful with a 4' cutting pad..it is a strong unit..it will burn paint and cut clear like butter with a PC...4" polishing pad would be safer with user experience...

When I got my 4" pads I tried on a test panel (junk Hood) to see what my limits were..and I burnt the paint with a cutting pad and medium cut polish..and in short time also...it generates some heat to the point it smoked when I hit a contoured edge on the hood...

For ease of use and still staying with a sealant, you might switch to Menzerna FMJ; it's easy on, easy off and very slick.

Most people would probably say Werkstatt Acrylic Jett or Jett Trigger is a pretty good replacement for SG. I have used both and they are relatively simple to use and look great.

If I couldn't get a finish to be OK with SG I wouldn't expect it to be OK with another sealant either. So I'd switch to a fills-a-little polish/glaze and use a carnauba instead. FWIW I only use sealants on two of our vehicles.

Ah..I almost always just recommend Collinite wax now that #16 is hard to find. Any good carnauba oughta work OK and polishes like 1Z that leave a little something work great for me too.

Like Al, I've observed that SG amplifies the condition of the paint. What was faint hazing before, becomes obvious hazing once SG goes on.

I figure that either way Collinite would be an OK option. If the SG is just being finicky the wax oughta be for forgiving, and ditto if there's some kind of micormarring to hide.

You could try fogging the surface with your breath and *then* buffing, but if you're gonna be repolishing anyhow I'd just find something easier to use.
