Problem with Nevr-dull..please help!

I have a Trans Am WS6 that has the polished aluminum wheels. Last winter, I stripped the clearcoat off f them (because it was peeling) and they look fantastic (nearly like chrome). There were a couple spots on them, so after reading about Nevr-dull I picked some up and just now tried it. It was getting dark, so it was a little hard to see, but now after being done it appears that they look more dull than before I started! It almost looks like the Nevr-dull scratched them! It says ont the can that it can be used on aluminum, so what is the problem?



Please give me some suggestions/advice!

i know when you are cleaning aluminum, the nevr-dull wad will get black. it is possible that your wheels were just really dirty and you need to go over them again. it could also be that the aluminum just oxidized since it isn't protected, although i'm not sure about that. :nixweiss



if it doesn't work, you might want to try another metal polish.

hmmm... maybe I just didn't get all of the residue off. I don't see how the Nevr-dull could have scratched the aluminum; it's supposedly non-abrasive. I'll just have to see what I can do in the morning.
 
Never Dull should polish AL pretty good, you have to buff it with a clean terry colth after polishing. Try Silvo as a final polish after Never Dull to give it a finer finish.
 
I have some of the Mother's Billet Polish ( the stuff that is about $13 a jar); would that be ok to use rather than going out and buying the Silvo?
 
Billet Polish would be fine. We've had our best luck applying it with a blue rubber nitrile glove, and polishing with your gloved fingertips, and then removing the residue with a good microfiber towel.
 
Its a blue latex-like material but much more durable. You can buy by the pair at Home Depot or by the box at a well stocked car parts store.
