Pricing help/ideas

So I'm about to move out into detailing the vehicles of people aside from my family and friends and Im looking to charge for my services. On average to work on my own personal vehicle (2012 F150 FX4 lifted, offroad tires, etc..) i spend about 6-7 hours on the exterior and interior alone excluding engine bay and frame/undercarriage. Now before I get into my real question Im going to go ahead and state that I am not near as experienced as many of the other members of this forum, and for that reason I am not planning on starting until I have all the questions I have answered and can go into my first detail with all of the knowledge I need to do the job correctly.

That being said I want to get an idea of what types of prices you as members charge. Now with that In mind I know that prices tend to vary depending on the region in which you live. So with that I live near a fairly wealthy area which is where most of my business would stem from. With that in mind what would be a good pricing list to incorporate into my business?

My services that I plan on doing.

-basic wash with claying and all in one polish along with tires, wheels, and trim dressed. Interior detail.
-medium package with wash, clay, two step polish, sealant, wax. along with cleaning and using polish or sealant on wheels. with tire and trim dressing. full interior detail
-final. wash-clay-3 step polish-sealant-wax-engine bay detail-wheel wells and frame detailed-tires and wheels dressed and sealant applied- full interior detail with shampoo and stain removal of carpet-dressing applied to interior plastics and trim-if leather full leather conditioning

If there are any steps that you as members believe I should add or exclude from each please let me know! also if I should break up the packages or add more feel free to throw around some ideas! Its as i mentioned before, I want to be sure that before I begin to work on customer vehicles that Im going in as prepared as I possible can from my technique all the way down to the prices. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

You might start with a more 'basic' package....that does not involve claying....and just apply a cleaner wax as opposed to a polish. Also, you'll need to define what an 'interior detail' is as opposed to a 'full interior detail. Consider adding dressing the wheel wells as an option (more $$$) to your basic package(s)...people really love the look of a 'blacked-out' wheel well....when that newly dressed tire just blends right into the wheel well, it looks awesome.

Something else to think about is what is the average pricing like for other Detail Shops in the area you are going to work in ???

I found some shops near where I was going to be working and went to them like a new Client and talked to them about their work, asked to see samples of their work, looked at what products they were selling, looked over all their pricing, picked up brochures, etc., to take home, looked over their shop area for ideas, and then went on to the next one...

With your experience level, of course you cant charge prices that come with more experience, but you can get a ball park of where you might be able to work within for now..

What price the Market will Bear is also something to think about....

Good Luck !
