THe way i have my prices is that they are for a car and then i add on based on size and condition. My FULL detail for a car is 125. I know it is a little low but thats alot were I live. What would you guys charge for a van with the normal swirls and some scratches. Dirty interior and all the normal Family Van symptoms.

Full detail:

polish out defects
glaze
sealent or was or both
windows clean and polished
tires,wheels cleaned and dress
Vaccuum
Shampoo.
Clean and dress interior
Engine Degreased and dressed
All metals polished.

So what do you/would you charge?

One thing that skews pricing is condition of the vehicle. My mini-van doesn't take much loger than our car, but it's never in bad condition to start with.
If a van is in as bad of shape as some cars, the extra seats and extra area could easily take an extra hour or two.
Leather or cloth seats? Cloth seats can be pretty time consuming and you will usually have three rows of seating.
They also have lots of windows, lots of floor area and lots of carpeted mats. Polishing around the typical roof rack takes extra time and will probably require the use of a ladder.
My guess is that a van that needs a lot of work would probably take about three hours longer that a comparable condition car.
I'm reminded of Natty Bumpo's comment after doing one. "Sorry, but I don't do mini-vans".
It might be a good experience for you. It might be a piece of cake or it might be the last one you ever want to do.

yea theres always the one kind of car or type of car you dont like...same with boats. i cant stand and have turned down people with those old cris craft boats just because they are a pita to clean.

I belive yuo should go with at least 150 If you haven't seen it yet I know that is what i'll chargeing for a starting point for a four door. Also In your last post your silver level i would consider a one step cleaner wax instead of a polish and wax.. If you don't have any i can send you a sample of what i have it work really well.

Greg,
IIRC your flyer said that your prices were based on a 4 door car.
That tells me you have a rough idea how much you are going to make per hour, it could take an extra 2 hours or so to get the job completed (depending on the condition of the vehicle) so add 2hours of your hourly rate to you normal price.

I don't think that $175-200 is out of the question depending on condition.

Good luck and let us know how it goes

If you are going to remove the seats and extract the entire carpets I would go no lower than $150. The Lexus I did a few weeks ago was pretty much the same steps you are planning and I charged $125; normally $165 but the people are really good to my girlfriend and they are repeat customers so I always knock the prices down.

That is a good idea. Are you thinking like #66? thanks everyone for the good advice. Im hearing about what i was thinknig 150-175. I dont have the vehicle lined up yet but i was just thinking. I always try to be prepared when asked how much do you charge. Thanks Everyone!
