thanks for looking, and have a great day:wavey

whats the question??? Are you maing money at those prices? If so then I guess it's all good. If you're not making money then ask yourself why? Asking us you're going to get 10,000 different answers and most will chime in and say you're absoultly screwing yourself and you need to raise prices... but whatever.. As long as you're making money you're doing fine.

thanks man

i was manly just looking to see how the layout all looked, if i were to hand it out as a flyer, as far as the services go and the options. idk, ive done my research on the prices down here and they match up pretty good. i was just looking for some opinions.

IMO I think price list can be very misleading. I guess if you have a building you have to post a sign for prices. I think if you list the services individually and let the customer add the prices together for the services they want done. You'll be better off. Alot of customers want you to explain the process and what you will actually do. Say for a full paint correction,or clay bar.

If I were handed a flyer, Id laugh at the name of "The Major Detail".

Just being honest. I think it needs a better name.

I'll try to give you a little constructive criticism. Your prices are very misleading and just don't make much sense. My first rough draft was terrible too, but I kept tweaking it till I got it right and knew how much I wanted to make per hour and I'm still tweaking it years later. When people see "Major Detail" their going to think there getting the works, but that's not where your "Major" problem is IMO. It's just hard to understand. You list "Interior Steam Cleaning" at $70, but the major detail is $100 and that includes steam? That means your charging $30 for the wash and wax. I just don't get why you would have 4 types of upholstery cleaning, that's almost your entire list. You have floor mat cleaning, carpet, upholstery, and steam. If you put all these together you get around $145, but a "Major "Detail is $99.99. Also, the Paint Correction package will really get on your nerves when you quote somebody that price on the phone and spend 12 hours on a beat-up car and make a little over $100. You might want to put "And Up" on all your prices at the very least, or go hourly on paint correction, because you never know what kind of paint your going to run in to , and at those prices, I think you'll be doing alot of people's cars that don't have it detailed regularly. You would be surprised at the level of client you can obtain just from raising prices a little. That's all I have to say for now, hope this helps, it's just my opinion, and you'll get a thousand other opinions if you ask a thousand people.

thanks for your reply i know that had to take a second to type. the prices are low, i started with them kinda higher then most around here, and kept running into jaw drops.

i know i need to look at it way more, thats why i needed opinions. i can do that major detail in somewheres around 2 hours, maybe 30 minutes longer. i am trying to target people with beaters, but also who dont wanna spend the money on making it perfect. idk. i need to look at it more, preciate the response though

You have to set a price that works well in your area. Call around and see what others are charging. Just to get an idea. Then charge accordingly.

Also, just because some of the detailers on here are getting 150,250,500 on up for a detail, doesn't mean you can as well. And now with the economy, I know several people with high end cars that are now balking and dickering with their detailers on pricing when before they didn't.

They must of lost quite a bit of money in stocks and their 401k's. lol

You don't want your prices too low, where it's not worth your time, but then again you don't want to price yourself out of the market either. JMO. I've never had a detail business, but I've owned a mortgage company, and when I was younger helped my dad run a few 18 wheeler dealerships.

I was lucky enough to retire at a young age, and now I'm looking for something to do (as a hobby). I'm going to start detailing some friends and family members cars, and while I don't want to charge too much (they would never go for a $200 detail) I don't want to waste my time, or energy either. And I don't need the practice. :chuckle:

Question for others. How do you go about charging family or friends on a wash, paint cleaner, LSP and maybe carpet cleaning. Something that would take you maybe 2-3hrs? Do you charge less than you would on a regular detail, or do you charge regular prices?

I do it for birthday gifts. A detail once per year is usually good enough for them.
