i just found a small door ding- you know the one when some careless person opens their door and it hits your perfectly detailed car...

it's not big, but it sucks nonetheless.

can they be repaired?

if so, how and if professionally, how much should i plan on spending?

thanks!

There is a guy who does paintless dent removal where I live (he's not affiliated with a chain like Dent Wizard or Dent Magic). I got an estimate of $85 to take out a door ding. It will be a lot higher if you have paint damage and have to take it to a body shop though.

i heard of dent wizard before but are they actually a chain store or somthing? i never seen an actual store or anything called that. where wouldi ber able to find it locally?

we had dent wizard fix about 10-15 dings in our volvo that were there when we bought it. i think the total bill was $150.00. the dents were on the hood, drivers door and driver side passenger door. i highly recommend dent wizard, they did a terrific job on the volvo.

DentWizzard is not your only option. They are franchised, so really, it depends on how good the dent guys working there are. I had a local "Dent Magic" place do a ding in my door. It took him about 10 min, is perfect, and cost $35.

Shop around. Rely on the reputation of the laborer, not the name of the store. The guy who did my door used to follow hail storms and set up shop. His experience in the business was well founded.

that makes me think of those guys that chase tornadoes and stuff....like the movie Twister.....ok...here we go....i say the next...10...no...25 posts have movie names for a guy that details..removes dents after chasing hail storms.....and "Swirler" is out already .....:D

thanks everyone for your help.

this is my first NEW car, and my first ding in a car that i really care about.

it kills me.... i park miles away from everyone in malls and restaurants.

figures that it happened right here in my apt. lot.

you can't teach people to give a sh$t,

can only park far away from them.

thanks again!

There's only one thing worse than getting your car dinged, and that's witnessing your car getting dinged. My car's a tad wider than yours so I am extra paranoid (not much more that you are though), some people have no respect.

I am the same way with parking... everywhere I go i park out of the way... but back at the ole apartment complex there are only like 6 or so good spots that im not worried about parking in... its sad... some times i sit in the lot for like 10 minutes debating over a few spots to try

its like im just waiting for my first ding...ya know its gonna happen....even if u have a garage..it doesnt matter.....i have to park in the street everyday...and i always try to be at the corner...so no one is in front or back of me(dependeing on which corner)....or just far enough away from a fire hydrant so theirs no one in back of me.....did u look inot DentWizard yet....good luck!!

Curious about the tarp you guys always use, is that to keep your chemicals/soap from washing down the storm drain?

Some area's around the country it's required by law and it's to help stop the chemicals from draining into the waste water system and into the ground. It's call a Water Containment System. Hope this helps.
