Preview: Meguiars's M105 vs FG400- link

Just a regular guy
Wednesday and this weekend I have been testing M105 vs. FG400. I wanted to document as much of the differences in application and performance. Here is a quick video link I posted on the Autopia-Car Care facebook page.

The full review will be coming soon.

Can't wait to see more and thanks so much for the comparison. You mentioned the differences in the pad being used - would the machine being utilized also account for some of those finishing differences?

Yes. The test (results) itself was very interesting. I was hoping to achieve something universal like "abc cuts more but xyz finishes better"... Instead I was reminded by the detailing gods that things like pressure, speed, pad selection, paint type, and environmental conditions all make a big difference.

The spoiler is that both products are awesome. Considering how great I think M105 is, and how, IMO, it was the product that redefined what a compound could do, that is a lot of praise for the new FG400.

Interesting results M105 vs. FG400 - Would you say very similar finishes?

I like to working abilities of M105 but I also find it flashes (dries) very quickly.
When you lightly mist M105 with H2O it comes back to life but then splatters!
and then...I spend time searching for little specks of M105 all over the place.
I've tried adding additional products to the drops I put on my pad...M205 etc.
This helps tremendously with flashing, work time and greatly reduces splatter.
IMHO M105 is an excellent product & cuts like a "Sling Blade" but it has issues.

Now on to the good news.

I'm looking forward to receiving both M101 and FG-400 and giving them a shot.

I'm going to work like crazy to get this write-up posted today, it might be late tonight (if at all). I found that the products are similar (both cut and finish great for compounds) but uniquely different.
