pressure washer or no pressure washer

I am sorry but $1200 is a lot of money. Oh sure, you're paying the premium for its reliability but most of us arent going to use its full potential. Some of us are just enthusiast or hobbyist just looking for a water down.

This is a PROFESSIONAL forum. Kiddies should be playing in the other sections.

Seles-

Can you tell me a little about that setup you bought? I'm curious as to what kind it is and some specs on it.

That's uncalled for, and a pointless tangent.

No matter how much we all enjoy the fruits of this labor - be it as a result of a full-time occupation, or as weekend warrior stress reduction - the condescending and pompous angle just doesn't work in the automotive detailing world. Unless of course you don't mind being that guy who's laughed at during class reunions.

Though blunt and condescending, IMO, it is called for. It's important in these forums to remember your audience. Valuable advice was given and then tossed aside as irrelevant and excessive. Those actions push away people who should be posting in favor of those who probably shouldn't be, not here at least. A lot of true professionals with more knowledge and experience then most everyone here combined do not post because of situations like this and we all, as a community, lose out as a result. Is that acceptable?

I also have to disagree that "the pompous angle just doesn't work in the automotive detailing world". Have you been here long? It's everywhere and celebrated, cheered and idolized. But I digress...

I use a gasoline pressure washer as much as I can. It makes the job so much easier and quicker. I can attach the soap tip to the wand to pre-soak the entire vehicle in less than a minute, then wash the vehicle, rinse and repeat if necessary. The pressure washer is especially useful to clean the undercarriage and the fender wells thoroughly. To make drying the vehicle quicker, I bring my own filtered water so no spots are on the vehicle after it is rinsed.
:2thumbs: I agree with you about the post on pressure washers. I couldn't imagine washing a vehicle without my pressure washer. That is until ONR and the Nomad Pressure Washer. Getting wheel wells, rims, and tries clean without scrubbing is an easy task with a pressure washer. With ONR and The Nomad both task are done easily.

Simple answer, look at this picture front end was pressure washed, back end a hose wouldn't even put a dent in it.

A few thoughts; IMO a pressure washer is not necessary except on extremely muddy cars or when doing fleet washing. It is a waste of water and gas to use a pressure washer on a daily basis. Not to mention, the gas you waste pulling around a huge water tank and heavy gas PW. ONR, can be used on very dirty vehicles; wheels and wells included. Using a pressure washer also requires you to have a wash mat or reclaim unit, which costs more money and wastes time setting up. I can wash a car just as quickly with ONR, and get the same or better results. Lets think outside the box and embrace technology.

Have you ever used the Nomad Pressure Washer? It's a nice piece of equipment. It save on water, gas and noise!

The SUV above was pretty dirty. I would not like to wash it unless I used a pressure washer. It can be done with ONR,but it will take longer, and I would at least change the water once. When the vehicle is that dirty,I prefere a pressure washer. If that mud is not washed off and rinsed out of your wash media. You stand a chance of scratching the finish! I would use my Nomad,2 buckets, shampoo, and a good schmitt or 2! JMO

I agree that the above pictured car would need a pressure washer. Luckily most, if not all, the cars I detail are not that soiled. I have never used the Nomad PW. I have an electric Kranzle that is awesome, but I seldom use it.
