Presidential Details of Lancaster, Pennsylvania presents Barry Theal in a refinement detail of a stunning 1995 Ferrari 348 Spyder in Rosso Corsa. A.K.A Race Red. This particular 348 was recently detailed. The owner mentioned that the last detailer made significant improvements to the car, but he thought it could look better. He mentioned he heard about my reputation and gave me the chance to perfect this very sexy car. The car recently went threw some upgrades and service. He recently upgraded the exhaust at Fabspeed in Philadelphia. Also he added some Carbon Fiber door sills which really sets off the interior as you open the doors. In addition he added some really nice floor mats and a few other things. One thing that made this car look sweet were the Ferrari 360 wheels he added. This car looks very modern for a 95. I must say he has good taste. Everything was completed very nicely and if I had the chance to own a car like this 1995 Ferrari 348, I would have done it just the same. The owner is a very nice guy, I had the pleasure of giving him a ride home. It was nice to be able to talk to a client and get to know them a little. This car was prepared for Ferrari’s Reading Concours Event in May. I was invited by the owner to attend the event with him. Its gonna be a blast. The car will not be judged because of all the mods. It will be on the lawn. To be honest god has truly blessed me this year and this is just another turn of events that has me thankful for what I do.

Now onto the car. Upon arrival I noticed a few things that was mentioned to me by the owner. The previous detailer had burnt an edge and left wax or compound build up in a lot of cracks. I noticed the car had some swirls and holograms.

Once I got going, I noticed that the rear Ferrari emblem was loosened and not properly tightened.

DSC_1353.jpg

I removed the emblem as well as the rear light bracket. This would help in a more refined detailed later in the process.

During the Decontamination Phase the car was actually fairly clean so my main goal was to remove any previous wax and just get the car clean. I foamed the car twice. Once for a rinse and once for stripping of all wax, polymers, silicone. Which this car was loaded with all kinds of silicone. You could see it melting away in the foam. It was nasty.

The car had a lot of old compound and wax build up in a lot of places. Pretty much the whole car got wiped with my little boars hair brush. The process took awhile, but well worth it. Once I dry the car with purged air, I moved into the my detail bay area. Once the car had been fully dried I prepped it for the compounding. I used a variety sizes of tape to ensure all area’s were covered. These older single stage Ferrari’s have some very thin edges its better to be safe then sorry as you seen earlier in the thread. You can also see some holograms and swirls caused by improper buffing techniques.

Once taped up I started with a refill of Starbucks double shot. I love these things. I also got my new surbuff pads in. Woooooooohooooooo I felt like the Macho Man giving the Full Monty. ß Inside joke please ignore. LOL

DSC_1402.jpg

The car had some area’s of clear coat and some single stage paint. Every panel was a little different in hardness and softness. So I took this detail One panel at a time. To sum it up, all correction was done with M105 and a PC7424xp with a several pads. Via Kevin Brown Method. I then turned to a Makita and85rd to finish down.

The vents on the side doors were a tough correction. I used a mother Power ball mini on a drill with some m105 and repeated with Menzerna 85 Rd. here is how I did it. I was trying to avoid sling so first I applied the polishes by had with an applicator.

DSC_1409.jpg

Then I noticed they were drying out so I misted them with a little water.

DSC_1410.jpg

I primed my Mothers mini ball and went at it.

John came over and helped me with the inside. It was very nice and the seats had been re-dyed. No photos were taken at this point the owner called and said he was coming back from his trip early and asked if he could pick the car up a day early! No Problems there Presidential Details came threw again! All leather was treated, and the interior was toughly cleaned.

Once all the polish was done I Began to work on the wheels. I recently purchased some Migliore products. Wow all I can is I’m blown away. I had the chance to apply Migliore Wheel Seal and The Bella luster Tire Dressing. The Wheel Sealant is incredible. Easy on. Easy off and it left an amazing shine. The Bella Lustr Tire Dressing left the Perfect Matte Black Finish. A little went a long way to! I haven’t been this impressed with a product line in a long time.

The Motor and trim was Dressed with Migliore Trim Protectent. Another amazing product.

DSC_1471.jpg

Once all that was completed. I used a Nano Sealant that was sent to me from Hungary. I was asked to test this product prior to its release. Look out guys, this stuff is great! Jesse send me more. Then I applied the wax. For this car I went with Migliore Competizone. Ok to sum this stuff up. It takes time and patience to apply this wax. It has a very high Carnauba rate and smells so good. Its an amazing smell. I applied the wax very thing front left to right, Then I came over the section up and down. Then I went over the section in a circular motion. Here you can see it curing. Surprisingly I found the wax removal was nice and it left an amazing shine. I was truly impressed. I have plans to now carry there full line of products. These products are a must have!

Nice work, but a lot of those pics look like the negatives, they did not turn out.... :nixweiss

Also why tape it all up if you're only using a DA??

I like that power ball idea for in between those vents on the side, very clever and better then by hand I'm sure.

Car turned out great, nice job.

The photos you're talking about look like HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos done by blending multiple exposures to get a wider dynamic range. It can make some pictures look weird and otherworldly. I agree in some of the shots the HDR technique doesn't seem to enhance the image but rather detract from it. Gorgeous car and detail though.

Absolutly amazing. I have a friend with one of these and every time I look at it all I can think about is what a nightmare it would be to detail. Could I ask how many hrs you spent bringing this beauty back to life?

With all those Swirls & Rids, the recent detail is barely detectable! Too bad this hack burned the paint, because it most likely deminished the value 10X more than what he charged the owner for his crap service. Just goes to show you that some people (even ones that play off being VIP detailers on the internet) don't know what they are doing! Nothing like getting the detail torch passed from an owner who was just hacked! Great job Barry!
