Possible solution to separating velcro and pad?

I just got my PC + pads, and I can see how the velcro can be separated from the pad after a while.

One solution may be to use a smaller sized backing plate so the plate do not use/cover all the velcro area on the pad. This would reduce the stress created at the edge where the velcro is glued to the pad.

Once a rip or separation is developed at that edge, it will separate/tear easily because of the forces exerted by the PC.

I use a 6" backing plate with an 8" pad.

What works for me is the 'flexible' backing plate, the pad 'gives' instead of digging into the foam

Flexible backing plate (LC and Porter Cable's 5") still cut my pads that had a "small" 5" velcro surface. (CMA pads are OK.)

Maybe it's just my lack of skill, but I solved my problem like this:

PC PAD "CUTTING" PROTECTION RING

NO stress on the edge as it never really hooks up there on the backing plate besides the extra protection it gives the top side of the pad. So far it has worked perfectly for me.

You could try the new Edge2000 system that will be in good order in about a month. The current adapter needs to be shortened and changed into an aluminum frame. I hear it works very close to a PC with 6 inch or 7 inch pads. No velcro at all! And you use the sides to polish also. Durable and strong
