Porter Cable 7??? and Sonus Products

I joined this site over a year ago and it has really transformed the way I look at car care. When I first joined, I basically found that I needed a good quality DA. I purchased the PC 7424 and have had excellent results. But reading through all the forums I find that there seems to be many different models of the Porter Cable DA. Is one model better then the other?

Unless I did not read in detail, I do not see alot of posts regarding Sonus products. Mainly I see Poorboys and Meguairs. I drive a black car ( used to be a 300M until the gas prices went through the roof and my daughter started med school ). Now I drive a black Saturn. It is alot of work, but there is nothing nicer then seeing a finely detailed black car. I use the Sonus product line with Kasse along with the DA and have excellent results. Is a matter of price, quality or preference?

Lastly, is it possible to change my log in name since I no longer drive a 300M? If so I will use a more generic name.

Again, thanks for all the tips and advice regarding car care.

Heh, I thought about changing my screen name too, but decided not to.

There are only two models of Porter-Cable orbital polishers--7424 and 7336sp.

I like the Sonus Total Eclipse and clay (green and gray), but I haven't tried the majority of the product line. I use a lot of Poorboy's products because they work well, aren't too expensive, and usually smell great too.

Glad to hear that I am not the only one whose name no longer represents the car they drive. I ordered a bunch of Sonus products last week, clay, shampoo, pads etc and are awaiting their arrival. I have had good experiences with them so far.

Thanks.

The shampoo, clay, pads, and polish ( 1, 2 and 3 ) are all Sonus. I also use the Klass twins followed by Meguairs carnuba. Can you recommend a better carnuba or is Meguairs a good choice?

There are so many different "Meguiars carnaubas". Which one are you talking about? It's hard to help with questions when people ask really broad questions like that.

After I pressed Submit, I realized I should have been more specific. The wax I used is part of the Meguairs three step process. It is also a couple of years old so I figured it was time to get a new supply before the spring. Thanks for all your help. I greatly appreciate it.

OK, the Step3 wax. Yes there are certainly better waxes than that. My favorites are Poorboy's Nattys and Nattys Blue, and Pinnacle Paste Glaz. Both versions of Nattys are widely available and reasonably priced. Plus they smell terrific. A great smelling product makes the whole experience a bit more enjoyable.

Would Autozone or one of the other major auto stores carry those brands? I see you are from Wisconsin. I work for M&I here in Jersey. Thanks again for all your help.

Thanks again for your help. I just purchased Natty's and some MF towels. Hopefully UPS will not lose this order and the weather will break soon so I can get my econobox, (Saturn) detailed.
