Portable power generators and usage?

I'm looking into getting a small portable power generator, it's a 3000 watt generator, but I'm not sure if that's enough power. it's mainly for vaccuming, using my porter cable, and rotary, and sometimes I may need my halogens. How can I find out how much power these need?

*edit sorry I meant 3000 watt*

3000 watts should be more then enough to run what you want to run . Look this over and you can get some idea on your wattage requirements >>LINK<<

I have a 35k gen. on my trailer and it has no problems what so ever. Most shop vacs pull 1100 watts and 8 amps. Mine will run for up 12 hours on a single tank of gas.

Do you mean 3.5 K ? 35k would be 35,000 watts;) Thats enough power to run a few houses.

I have a Honda EU 3000, and I have run a Mytee Light 8007 and an air compressor simultaneously with no problem. I do not recommend this, but the Honda are worth the extra $$$ !!!

This unit retails for about $1900. I purchased it use for $1400 about a year ago.

3000 wattts is more than enough. I love my honda t handle now it is going for 489.99 at the home depot. Light only 60 lbs, 67 decibels, so small and easy to carry with one hand, max output 2800 watts. It can run my durrmaid machine and that pulls 15 and a vacumm at the same time. I highly reccomend this unit or the brigg one for 399.99 and would just remove the handle and have a smaller unit both avaliable at the home depot. I know alot about generators so any help you need, im hear for you just ask.

Hi there I have This Jetwash and was wondering if some one could help me with what size generator i need? I have been told I need 5.5KVA but others have told me that that is simply over kill..... so confused - all help welcome :)

Thanks

Can you answer this question for me? Is it possible to run a Air Compressor like this one of off a generator. Not all day sort like intermittently for a few hours at a time.

TIA

Look over this link http://www.mayberrys.com/honda/generator/html/requirements.htm

you can get some idea of the size generator you'll need to power it . 3000 watts won't be enough to power that 5 hp air compressor. Make sure the generator you buy has the right power plug, the IR air compressor uses a 230v .

3000 SHOULD BE GOOD. I also run a honda. One rig has a 3500 I bought used 8-9 years ago and used it almost every day since. The other is a 6500 watt, electric start I won on ebay for $1400.

The 3500 is really working hard when I have a dw849, craftsman vac and mytee extractor running a the same time but it has never let me down.

Electric pressure washers need a start-up current much higer than their rated draw. I spoke to Karcher about this myself, and a PW that draws 2.8kw constant will need more like 5.5kw to get it started in the first place.
