Porsche GT3 & ShoKar

This is a regular client and he called me the other day to come by and remove some hard water spots that he got while parked next to some sprinklers.

The water spots were not coming off with just the ShoKar Prep so I went to some ValuGard Clear Coat Compound. This did a better job but still took some rubbing (had to do some areas by hand-rear wing area), even the Cyclo was not removing then easily.

So I tried ValuGards Cerious Compund. This worked much better with the Cyclo and white pads. I was going to try the Optimum but I had so many new products to try out I figured I would give the Opt. a rest:)

After removing the water spots I then hand applied the ShoKar Multi-Prep. After this I then applied by hand the ShoKar sealant. Once again super easy on and super easy off, even after letting it sit for about 20 minutes.

B&B on tires and I used Gliptones QD on the wheels.

Thanks,

Anthony

I forgot to mention that I took these pictures just before the sun was setting so thsi is why the pictures may look a bit dark.

Thanks again,

Anthony

Anthony,

There you go with one of those SWEET Porsches again! :xyxthumbs A great car with an even better shine!

What would you compare ShoKar Sealant to? You know me, always looking for a better shine! Recently I've been getting into the Paste Glaz on titanium silver as a LSP. Let me know.

You are going to have to patent the "Orosco Porsche Special Shine Method"! :bow :bow :bow

Cheers,

I know this is about ShoKar, but what did you think about the Cerious Compound with the cyclo? I've used it with the rotary and like it a lot, but I don't have a cyclo, and have debated getting one because I really see myself using the Cerious as my goto polish from now on.

Anthony-did you try mixing in vinegar in your wash bucket? It really helps remove or at least soften hard water deposits.

Nice job on the Porsche, it has that great Shokar wet glow. :up

I'm saving what I have left for a couple of customers who really like it. One of them washes his car 3-6 times a week and Shokar has really held up over the last nearly 3 months on his MDX.

I tell you, sprinkler problems really chap my...uh...behind. There is absolutely no excuse for any business to run their sprinklers when customer's vehicles are on their parking lot.

I had a similar spotting horror last weekend. Vinegar didn't do squat. AIO was only partially effective in some areas so I had to go with FPII via Cyclo with white LC pads. Thankfully nothing more aggressive was necessary although I did have to make a few passes occasionally.

Hey guys thanks for the comments:)

Amp,

I would say that the "Prep" is alot like AIO, it cleans fairly well but the AIO may do a bit better job in that area. The Prep seems to leave a far slicker surface than the AIO though.

The Sealant gives you an almost Zaino look, perhaps a bit muted in the "plastiky" department. It is the easiest sealant though I have used to date, in terms of removal.

Also as far as LSP's go, wait until you see the results I am getting with the Gliptone paste wax:up

I like the Cerious compound. I have not tried it yet with a rotary but I am sure it works great. My partner Ron used it but he prefers the Optimum as the cerious seemed to grab the pad a bit. I used it today on a white "hard as a rock" Audi A8 with a lambskin wool pad and it did seem to grab a bit. Then again I am so used to the Optimum now and its ease of buffing I may be spoiled:rolleyes:

I was blown away while buffing the Audi because the Gliptone "Extra Heavy Buffing" creme leveled the paint faster and better than the Cerious. Yet both products are very low in the abrasive department. I am so far pretty impressed with the Gliptone products, although I have more testing to do before I make my final judgment.

Hope that helps,

Anthony

David from Optimum is sending me a sealant he has ben working on (I am not stating this to start anything). I hope it is in the ranks of the ShoKar.

Vinegar would not of done much with these spots as they were pretty bad but thankfully they were only on the front deck lid, passenger door, passenger fender top and an odd area of the rear wing:nixweiss

Was the wool pad via rotary? if so, that sounds aggressive but given Audi clear, I can definitely see its necessity. Was the pad LC? American Buffing?

Hmm..just when I was starting to consider Cerious polish because there's going to be a Ceramiclear finish in the family soon. I wonder if the Gliptone also uses cerium oxide?

Yes I used it with a rotary on the Audi. Now to give the Cerious a fair shake I may need to mess around with it some more. I was running it at about 1500 rpm's, so I may adjust that up a bit next time. I have the Audi here at home as I need to take it to the dealer tomorrow for a service. When it's done I'll finish buffing it.

I used the Gliptone with a white LC pad and as I said I really liked the way it worked, It to though dried faster than the Optimum and for this reason the Opt. may have done a nice job also. The Opt. Compund is maybe two months out and if it works anything like the polish I will be in hog heaven:D

I also have some Creme Wax from Gliptone and it in conjunction with the Gliptone paste wax produced on hell of a slick, clear and beautiful appearance on a yellow MB SL Ron and I did at his shop (sorry no pics).

I am not sure if Gliptone uses that but it does state it uses "micro beading" to cut the paint. When I feel the product it is not abrasive at all. It is silicone free and water based. I know the advantage of the cerium oxide is that its "edges" are rounded off.

Anthony

The micro beading might be another term for the cerium oxide's action and/or descrbing its blend of whatever diminishing abrasives it may have.

Anthony: Gorgeous job on the Porsche

Is the Gliptone QD the Carnauba Body Gloss? Can you be sure to report back on all your Gliptone findings? Their headquarters are 25 mins from my house.

Anthony,

What version of Gliptone Paste Wax are you using and can you post some pics with the Gliptone Paste Wax as the LSP?

Thanks Anthony!

Cheers,

Nice job on the GT3 Anthony...I may be doing one of these soon with Souveran.

I agree and from a landscape maintenance view, watering the in early hours is much better for plants and lawn.

Sean, yes it is the Body Gloss and I used it today on several cars that I washed. I like the stuff and it would be worth your 20 minute drive to get some.....BUT.....wait till I get a chance to use all their products and perhaps I can give you a more informative response and help you chose the right products.

Thanks,

Anthony

Hey AMP,

I will post up some pictures soon of several cars with the Gliptone as the final topper. The paste wax is a 13oz can and I think the name is "Paste Wax".....now that's easy eh?:xyxthumbs

Later,

Anthony
