Hi there, i'm wondering if anybody can help me locate a post or article (i've definitely used the search tool - my hunch is that i found a link that originated from autopia) that i've read about half a month ago (the article was probably written long before that). In the article the author listed brief descriptions of many porsches that have been made in the past. I distinctly remember that he/she mentioned the specific porsche models that were distinguished as well balanced or one of the most balanced porsches. I've just recently revived my curiosity in old porsches and re-reading the article would make me happy!

Wow big broad topic. However to help a little, all Porsches can handle well with the correct driver. That being said the older 911's can be a handfull under certain circumstances and will bite the hand of inexperienced drivers that don’t pay attention or know what is going on by swapping ends quickly. As the 911 has grown up suspension developments have made them a little easier to drive at the limit and have dialed out the “trailing throttle oversteer� and braking in a corner problems (all still exist just not as easy to induce it).



As for a "balanced" stand point the poster was probably referring to the 914 (mid engine car) or 924/944/968 cars. All considered very balanced and neutral handling cars. The weight distribution in these models (924/944/968 not sure about the 914) are much closer to 50/50 than in the 911. The 928 was also a more "balanced" car. At one point one of the car magazines said the Porsche 944 was the best handling Porsche ever.

wow! thanks guys. Russ's post was what i was referring to, but i will definitely check out rennlist. Thanks to both for these great resources.
