Porsche Boxster Spyder - Custom Clear bra Install by Unique Car Care

This Porsche Boxster Spyder was in for a custom clear bra install to protect the paint against stone chips and keep the factory paint looking good for years to come. The owner had just purchased the car and made the trek down all the way from the South Shore after hearing about our services online. All high-impact areas were to be wrapped in paint protection film, including the complete hood, complete fenders, complete front bumper, side mirrors, headlights, rocker panels, door jambs and rear mud flaps.

Instead of using a precut kit like most installers do, we decided to do a fully custom install using bulk film. This allows us to wrap all panel edges for maximum coverage and a clean install without having unnecessary seams. Precut kits are computer generated for specific models and have lots of large openings around the park distance sensors, reflectors, etc… By doing a custom install, any openings are trimmed as close as possible, which really makes a huge difference in the overall appearance when finished.

To start, I washed the exterior and clayed all areas being covered in film to ensure there was a perfect foundation for the film to adhere to.

After washing the exterior, I dried all surfaces and blew out all cracks & crevices with compressed air to ensure every bit of dirt was removed, which can interfere with the film install.

The headlights were removed in order to fully wrap the film behind and avoid any visible seams .

First up was the front bumper install…

Side mirrors…

Rocker panels and custom quarter panel splash guards…

We even covered the door jambs which protects the paint from getting scuffed when getting in & out of the car.

The area behind the rear wheels is a very high-impact area, so we installed custom ‘mud flaps’ in order to keep this area free of road rash.

Headlights reinstalled and covered in film…

The last panel of the install was the hood.

As you can see below, we trim all edges a little long so they can be completely wrapped over. When looking at the finished product, there are no visible seams, so it is virtually invisible and will provide protection against rocks, road debris, bug etching, etc..

David Fermani- Thanks David!

Things are going well and business is booming.

Congrats on your move back to Michigan.

I hope this year is a good one for you!

C. Charles Hahn- Thanks Charlie!

We use the Ventureshield product, which has been treating me very well over the past couple years. I did try Xpel for a while, but the film was very inconsistent and the companies customer service wasn't the best (lots of completely wrong orders when I really needed them). So far, so good with the Ventureshield.

A.Bursell- Thanks Adam!

That's lame to hear, Xpel was the film that I was going to be using. are you sure it's not the place your ordering from?

that ultimate film that heals its self was pretty mind blowing at SEMA

I was thinking the same.... that self healing film really caught my interest with you guys' comments and in their video demos.

When 3M took over Ventureshield a while back, 3M decided to change the glue/adhesive and lots of people were having issues with installs using the Ventureshield film, so I decided to make the switch over to Xpel for a while. For the first Xpel order, I called Xpel headquarters in Texas directly to set up an account with them. I spoke with Jeff and he was very nice to deal with. We spoke for little while and I went over what I needed for an upcoming install that was for the following week. Everything came in on time and it wasn't until I drove two hours away to the clients house that I opened the box and the order was completely wrong.

The following day I called Xpel to tell them the order was wrong and they apologized and said they would send me the correct film via priority overnight, which they did, except for the fact that it still wasn't what I had specified. I called back and told them what happened and finally ended up getting the order correct. The install was for a first time client who was having us wrap his Ferrari 599 GTO and Porsche GT2 RS, so we aren't talking about just any old customer.

The next order I placed was for a rush job for a dealership I do installs for and the install was very time sensitive. I called to place the order and they told me they would have it delivered directly to the dealership since it was time sensitive. My installer and I drove all the way to the dealership to find out that the film wasn't there. I wasn't too happy and found out when I got home that they had delivered it to my house instead.

Another time, I placed an order for a precut kit and they sent me matte film instead of standard film which I had specified. Also, when the Xpel Ultimate film first came out, I bought a 12 foot piece of 60-inch film, which was full of defects, so I finally gave up with Xpel. I never bothered following up with them for a refund, since I work 70+ hours/week and don't have the time to ship back film for them to inspect in order to get the refund.

I have switched back to Ventureshield and the film has been great.

Hope this helps you make your decision...

That's great to hear... Always nice to add another service to your offerings!

Things are going very good for me, last year was my most profitable yet.

Holy attention to detail. That's some incredible work. How long did it take to complete the wrap job?

Always pleasant to see this type of stuff done at such a high standard as I'm sure you also usually see how pre-cut shoddy installers leave cars looking: NOT beautiful.
