Porsche 993 Carrera S - Corrected by Oakes Detail

This 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S came in with 113,000 miles on it, and to be honest, they weren't showing. I spent some time performing rock chip touch up in a few areas of the car, then paint corrected the entire exterior, while also performing leather and wheel treatment. I carefully combed over this 993 to make sure it looked better than it 113k miles ago, check out the rest of the write up to see how it was done!

As it arrived, with another 993 alongside.

I used Sonax Full Effect to remove the brake dust inside the barrels, love this stuff! Side note, the lemon scent claim is about as accurate as free falling bomb.

The vehicle was completely masked off, which is a bit tricky on most 911 chassis Porsches. As most of the rubber trim as almost no solid edge to guide the tape easily. So masking this car was a near two hour process in itself, as well as two full rolls of Meguiars tape. Also devised a super expensive, extremely tricky way to cover the engine compartment under the deck lid vent....

After that financially and physically draining ordeal, I inspected the paint and took readings, which were consistent throughout the car reading in the low to mid 100 micron range. The paint damage aside from the rock chips was also fairly "minimal" for 113k miles, much to my surprise considering the paint isn't the hardest.

I won't bore you with dozens of before photos, but rather before/after photos of the same panels immediately after each other. Starting with the roof:

Driver side C pillar, with the notoriously easy to work with water drain:

Driver Side Rear Quarter panel, love those curves.

Not sure how to describe this accurately, which I'm assuming would be considered the cowl:

Arctic Silver is definitely one of those silvers that really pops! As you can see in these reflection photos following below, which are the result of

Meguiars 105/LC Purple Wool

Meguiars 205/LC Foam Orange

Menzerna 106/LC Foam white

Paint was cleansed with IPA and P21S Paint Cleanser

Sealed twice with Menzerna Powerlock. I will let the visuals do the talking from here!

Some full body profile photos, hopefully the rear end shots are still safe for work, Sir Mix a Lot claims it might be risky!

Thanks for looking! Any and all sarcasm that may or may not have been picked up in this write up, is exactly that. I take all my work very seriously, I just like to put a twist on explaining it sometimes! Enjoy!

Thanks Barry! I've been behind on finishing the shop itself up, but for good reasons. You'll have to swing by next time you're in the area.

John, the twist wheels definitely look great on this body!

very nice... obviously with your lights you can see the imperfections and their correction... it's a shame that silver on the road doesn't show as much pop as other cars... of course while I say this I have a white car lol .

Either way it still did come out great, pretty thick and hard paint on them isn't it?

Nick, thanks for the detailed writeup on the work. Beautiful job. I owned this car from 90K miles to about 103K miles and sad to say my 12 year old helped put a lot of those scratches in the clearcoat when he decided to surprise me with a car wash using not so soft materials...it was the thought that counted!

Your work helped convince me to buy it back from Ian. I'll be sure to visit you around 200K miles!

Thats fantastic! Glad to hear you have it back, I know Ian was very fond of the car, looks like its in great hands either way. Look forward to meeting you later on, enjoy her!

Hey, that looks vaguely familiar! Right car, right color. The owner has great taste. And was smart to bring it to you to save.
