Poorboys SSR-2 good for hand polishing?

...Dreaming on an E92....
Hello all,
Me and my neighbor are getting ready to do a full exterior detail on his wifes 03 Explorer Limited, all black. It's been driveway parked for the past 9 months, but that will soon change. The Explorer has only ben waxed once, and my neighbor feels really stupid he hasn't done anything else with it, so it's in need of some TLC. It's got some swirl marks, so I'm thinking about telling him to order some Poorboys SSR-2. I heard that for slight swirl marks the SSR-2 works good if you do it by hand, is this true? I'd like to see him invest in a PC so I could in turn use it too :cool
Anyway, the plan is a good washing claying, then I guess the wirl remover, and a couple coats of wax. I'm thinking about the Pinnacle Soveran (sp) wax, I saw great reulsts on a black Yukon, should do the same for the Explorer!

Thanks guys
Dolan

If you are planning on doing it by hand, plan on a good days worth of labor.
Use cotton towels for the initial rubbing, I always liked shop towels folded in quarters, and do very small sections at a time and expand from there. DO NOT RUSH....if it takes two days to polish it, then it will take two days!!! Always rub back and forth with the wind flow and use what ever pressure is needed to remove the swirls.
IF you have questions while working, please feel free to call:phone: :hippi

Do you run the PBW website, Poorboy? Just curious, since you said to call, lol.
We don't plan on rushing at all, that's a fact. If it does end up taking two days though, is it alright to just park it in the garage for the night, then just go back and polish it the next day, we wouldn't have to worry about washing it again, just clean any dust off the surface, right?

Thanks again

That's Mr Poorboy himself other wise known as Steve . Have fun and post some before and after pics . It will be nice to see the results . :bigups

He does :D you're in good hands. You dob't have to wash it, but the accumulated dust might need a little s&w :naughty

Yes that's me :hippi I wouldn't worry about the dust of sitting overnight in a garage. A quick wipe with a mf or Spray and Wipe would just be an extra precaution, but not really needed.:) Take your time and I'm sure you'll get great results....

what about using a microfiber cloth to rub the SSR2 into the paint? right now i don't have any good cotton towels.

also is it okay to rub in circles? or should i wipe only in straight lines?

I do have a PC but there are a number of areas that are very hard to reach with a PC.

microfiber is for removing polishes not applying as they are too soft and don't have good bite. You also will not build up any heat or friction compared to cotton for removal of defects and swirls. Back and forth will remove the swirls, circle should be left for LSP where no pressure is being appied :hippi
