Poorboys PP/SSR: Speed with PC for Glass ??

If I use my PC 7424 to clean my front windshield, what speed should I use the PC at -- low, medium, high? Also, I presume I should use the white polishing pad it came with or the equivalent from Edge/Sonus, right?

My car is new (5 months) but the windshield did have some water spots a few months ago. I'm torn between SSR 1 or PB PP -- any thoughts (I don't think I need SSR 2 or higher)?

Hi, I'm responding as requested from your other thread. I can't help you with the PC, but I used UPC and EX-P on my windows, using a terry towel. The UPC got rid of those nasty water spots immediately. The EX-P made Thursday's rain bounce off so well, I almost didn't need to use my windshield wipers! My side windows were so clean, I had to strain to see if they were rolled up! :)

Use a MF towel, or your PC on a low setting for the windows, and put on the UPC and some EX-P!

Thanks Charles, I don't have UPC so that's out but maybe I'll get some soon -- BTW, what is UPC ???

UPC is Four Star Ultimate Paint Cleanser. It is used to clean your car's paint before polishing. It is the equivalent to Klasse AIO. Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection (UPP), is equivalent to Klasse SG sealant. But I'm told that UPP has a slicker, longer-lasting, shinier appearance than SG. Your mileage may vary.

I polish my windows with a PC and polishing pad at speed 4. My favorite products to use for this task are Poorboy's Pro Polish, Poorboy's SSR1, or Clearkote Vanilla Moose. I generally use one of these products to prep paint, so I will just continue polishing from the paint right onto the glass surfaces.

Thanks...so speed 4 with SSR 1 should be OK?

What about the choice of SSR 1 vs. PB PP? SSR 1 is a bit tougher, right? My car is only 5 months old, but I had some water spots about 2 months ago (seem to have faded) but no super-embedded dirt/grime.

Would you go PB PP or SSR 1 (again, I assume no need to use SSR 2 or higher)?

If I am only planning to polish glass, Pro Polish would be my first choice. If I am polishing both glass and paint, I normally just use my paint finishing polish for both areas (I'm too lazy to switch pads and products in the middle of a detail). My choice of finishing polishes varies depending upon the color and condition of the paint.
