Poorboy's NEW ride

Poorboy

Founder Poorboy's World
After many years of loyal service, my Hoe is just a bit worn down and tired. With all the specials going on I decided it was time for Poorboy to have a new ride.
Being that I have never had a new ride for myself, I looked around at a few different trucks. At first I was thinking small and economical especially before gas prices dropped, but I wasn't really comfortable in them. I liked the Mini-Cooper a lot but the wife said the kids would not be safe in it :( Then I looked at intermediate size crossovers but my knees kept hitting the steering wheel getting in and that would get me pissed off in no time. Then I looked bigger at the Yukon, Armada, and Sequoia. Unfortunately our only local Chevy dealer closed down, I'm not interested in a Expedition as I've had enough of Fords for a while. The GMC dealer is viewable from my shop and I really liked the Yukon, but they were really expensive :wow:. I test drove an Armada and man it was really nice and super huge, but I don't do a lot of driving and for local cruising, it didn't ride very good. So I went to Toyota and drove the Sequoia. It was also very big, but was more comfortable and rode like a car.
So to make a long story shorter ... here it is :)

as you can see, I made them leave it as it was, plastic still on roof :D

The detailing will be coming next :inspector:

Here's the cosmolene residue from the plastic protection...

Congratulations on the new ride! So what's your detail process for the paint? Ending with Natty's red I hope.:D

Funny that you ask :notme:

It was so big that it was done panel by panel..

Well the process of course started with a claying with one of my reserve yellow clay bars :D
The hood was the starting point. Since I picked it up in a snow storm, I never really saw the true color or it really clean. The build date says April, so I'm guessing it sat on the lot for a long time and had a rinse off now and then.

I started on the hood and connecting areas of the fenders. Spray and Wipe, Clay w/ Spray and Wipe Professional Polish with a White polishing pad with the PC. I'd say most of the scratches are gone but there are a couple deeper ones I will attack this summer. Then Polish w/ Sealant with a black finishing pad. Then a coat of Black Hole with another black finishing pad. Indoors it was hard to tell the exact look of the color at this point. but sure was glowing. Then a coat of Natty's Red .
This of course was all done between phone calls and e-mails :lol2: Over the next few days 4 more coats of Natty's red was put on and one coat of original Natty's (the original sample that Natty used)

Here's an after of the roof

it was a bit tight inside to get any side shots, but the process continued, but instead of Professional Polish, we (Pockets and I) oh yeah did I mention that after I finished the hood, I let Pockets do the roof and sides :notme: ..., we used Polish w/ Sealant, Black Hole, and two coats of Natty's Red for the rest of the truck.

That paint really is beautiful. I would have got the same color. I'm guessing you got the 4.7 V8? You'll grow to love the DOHC. I know being an American car fan you are used to the old pushrod. Even though the torque is not quite as high as the pushrod you will love the smoothness.

Yes, it is different than American power plants and it has the 5.7L 381hp that makes it move pretty quick It also has the 6 speed ECT tranny, which is kind of fun manual shifting but I tend to burn even more gas using it :wow:
