I purchased some bug squash at the detail weekend b/c Ron told me its a must have. So since he woked with me all day (except for smoke breaks) I bought it.

Last night I had make a blast to pick my son who was diagnosed w/ Flu like symptoms up at camp in PA.
Of course it had to be the day the Throgs neck bridge was closed due to a fire. Serious traffic out of NYC! 6 Hours there 2 1/2 home!

When I got to camp, I wanted to cry. Both mirrors and the whole nose and windshield were covered in bug guts. I cleaned the windshield with a MF DI water mixed with some ONR I keep in the trunk.

Drove home and added another layer of bugs to the aforementioned surfaces. I pulled into my driveway at about 11 PM and was toast! I hosed off the loose stuff and went to bed.

Got up is morning and mixed bug squash 1 part BS 3 parts water. Applied with a foaming trigger sprayer, let sit for 2 minutes and washed area with an old Sheep skin mit and my car wash soap. Hosed off and 99.9% was gone! Some spot work with a bud sponge and 100% removal was achieved. Not much effort either. Best I have used to date.:love:

Now, a question, did the BS remove the EX Sealant from 2 weeks ago?

Becoming a big PB fan one product at a time!
 
No it did not remove the EX. When it is mixed 3:1 don't have any fear of it stripping LSP's. I remember the first time I tried it I was blown away. I need to buy another gallon.

Now remember to get your sleep and good nutrition so you don;t get it too.

I'll second yuor title of the thread, and also what Kurt said. DIlute it a little more and you can use it to get out water spots from the last couple of days as well as leaf imprints.

I also use it as sort of a pre-wash in winter to help get salt and grunge off the car.

I agree, Bug Squash is a quality product. I keep an ounce or so mixed in each refill of the foam gun along with my diluted car wash.

As for compromising your EX, I will defer to Steve's recommendation of 1:3 as a LSP friendly dilution. However, IMO the truth of the matter is though the dilution itself may not remove the LSP, every time you touch the vehicle the mechanical action of washing, drying, QDing does impact the the protection/durability. Specifically where you used the bug sponge, I suspect is more than just a bit compromised.

I would say your assessment is basically true of any wash or virtually any QDing ... ...using a bug sponge is like using an abrasive ... I would use either a very soft microfiber cloth or even our mesh bug microfiber towel which will reduce friction :cool:
 
Is S&W similar to BS? I notice that fresh bugs come off with S&W and Mega Plush MF.

However if there are many bugs, dried on baked in guts etc. I just APC, let it sit for a few then wash with soapy mitt. Then reapply protection.
 
The sw would work mebbe on fresh kills, but the bs works well on driend baked on's. It's also great on water spots and the dried leaf impressions. And I just used it to get bubble gum off my car. BS and a special bug microfiber.
