Poor boy's ssr's by hand

I'm looking for some advise on the ssr polishes. I don't use a PC for detailing and was wondering if the poor boy's ssr polishes would be a good choice. I have used 1Z polishes and like the results but would prefer a polish without waxes and other aditives. Does anyone have experience using these polishes by hand?

I have never used Poorboy's polishes. If you want some polishes and compounds that work well by hand and do not have wax and fillers try 3M products. The Perfect it III Rubbing Compound and Machine Glaze work great by hand and no fillers. You can also get them local.

I really dont think i would venture past #1 by hand. There all great polishes, but above #1 is best by PC.

the ssr2.5 works great if you need to get some things off the paint by hand. what color X couldn't touch ( I do like it otherwise) ssr2.5 took off with ease!

Many will suggest 1z products I am sure.

I quite happily use SSR 1 and SSR 2 by hand.

2.5 I found I couldn't work quick enough to make it effective, by machine though they are all fab! :).

#1 seems to work very well by hand. 2.5 feels gritty and I would expect the chance of marring on a dark colour by hand. With a PC there is no marring as it breaks down nicely and does an excellent job. The heat developed by the PC helps it break down.

I've used SSR2.5 by hand and let me tell you, it will mar. However, I did find that for a very small area and using very fast motions, I was able to remove some significant scratches. I still had to follow up with SSR1 to remove the marring.

All in all, I would *not* recommend 2.5 by hand. It just requires too much effort and you'll have to expend extra effort to remove marring anyway.

BY PC, 2.5 is excellent! Although I usually follow up with SSR1 or VM, for many, 2.5 will leave a ready to wax/seal finish.

Thomas, your a bigger man than I ! I m spoiled with the PC I guess !!!

No not really - I was washing that white Highlander that I detailed awhile back and there was something on the right rear fender or was it the splash guard that is white as well. Don't remember, but that was the only time I used ssr 2.5 by hand. SSR2.5 maybe the product to polish scretches out from under the door handles.

that is what I was trying to say.

I would always use something less abresive afterwards anyways, so marring never bothers me.

That's great everyone thanks for all the info. If I try this polish I think I will stay away from the 2.5 when using by hand. It sounds like the ssr1 & ssr2 by hand will be fine and give me the results I'm looking for. Once again thanks everyone!!
