Polymer sealant ==> QD spray?

Just wondering if each line's QD isn't simply a dilute solution of its sealant. For example, would Klasse SG diluted with 5 to 10 parts of distilled water give you Sonus Acrylic Spritz? Blackfire All Finish Paint Protection plus water equals Deep Gloss Spray? I imagine the extra water simply facilitates the Wipe-On-Wipe-Off process, which is all quick-detailing is, really.

Autoglym has no QD product, and their Sealant Glaze equivalent (I forget its name at the moment) uses alcohol or some other volatile hydrocarbon instead of water. I bet that's because water doesn't evaporate very reliably in the damp English climate.

You can tell this is a newbie question! The best way to answer this question would be to simply try it out! But I don't yet own any of these products...

thx in advance

QD's are supposed to contain lubricants and surfactants to help encapsulate dust to prevent scratching, but no one except for the manufacturers know for sure. It seems to work better than plain water.

I mainly use qd to fix spotting problems after washing, but never tried plain water.

I think that Klasse SG is about the only only sealant that will mix well with water or water-based QDs. I have put an ounce or so of SG in other QDs (Meguiar's Final Inspection) and used it that way. As was stated, I would be hesitant to just use SG mixed with water because of the lack of lubricants/surfactants/etc.

Hmmm, yer basic lubricant would be silicone, which does evaporate. Yer basic surfactant is detergent, which does not. Wonder if there's a readily available volatile equivalent...
