Need some help, I washed, clayed, washed, then polished with a PC and white polishing pad with Perfect IT II compound and the finish was shiny, but the feel was rough. It was smooth after I clayed it. Any solutions out there?:nixweiss

Makes sense, thx, what kind of polish & wax would u recomend?

Any wax/LSP will be a personal preference thing, but for the polish, I always follow 3M compounds with 3m PI-III MG (05937).

I wanted to use the pertfect it 2 compound on a clunker to see how agressive it is, any advice on using this product?

Watch out for caking on the pad and for the product drying out too fast. Didn't happen to me but others have reported it. Have plenty of pads. Work it until it's almost dry but not "to powder". Wear an appropriate mask as the dust is carcinogenic. I'd use something else like PI-III RC or the PI-3000 equivalent instead if only for the mask issue.

Expecting the compound to remove quite a bit of clear, instead a bit rough. After claying, it was smooth, after polishing it was rough, not rough due to removing clear, just rough from the compound being applied. I don't think it removed anything, it actually added on. Overall I'm trying to remove to feel and see the degree of agressiveness. Any thoughts?

The PI-II RC doesn't really remove all that much clear, but it does leave a not-yet-ready-to-wax finish. You're probably feeling the "micromarring" that it leaves behind. If you don't work the PI-II until it breaks down, this micromarring will be exacerbated, possibly to the point that it isn't so "micro" ;)

Following up with a milder polish should clear things up both looks and feel-wise. You would typically only use the RC to remove scratches and swirls, then use a milder polish to finish things up. The RC isn't designed to leave things all that perfect, especially when not used with a rotary.

Using PI-II RC on paint is like using 240 grit sandpaper on wood. Not all that aggressive, but it doesn't leave a really smooth finish either.

I didnt have much luck with the PI2 RC on a speed above 5. Stop before it dusts, and dont prime the pad.

With a white pad it wont be very aggressive. You might only remove swirls, micro scratches most likely wont come out with this combo.

DACP is a superior product with the PC anyways. With an orange pad, DACP takes out all but the most stubborn problems.
