i have just started to find out the importance of polishing your car to maintain it. i recently went into my dealer and talked to the main detailer there. he has a black mustang that he said was never once waxed, only polished, and he polished every week with a non abrasive polisher. he recomended this method to me. so my question is, would it be safe to apply a non-abrasive polisher to my car every week, or would this take an effect on my clear coat. by the way, i have a 05 v6 6-speed accord.

I think its a little overkill. This guy obviously is cluless about proper surface maintenance. If you he only applied a sealant/wax, he could save all the micromarring hes inducing by doing his weekly ritual. Im sure it looks nice, until it hits the lights. I wouldnt follow his recommendations.
 
A polish wither it contains cutting or burnishing abrasives are usually formulated with oils for lubrication, which will not provide any protection for the paint surface. Without which could cause clear coat failure from any number of airborne pollutants (acid rain, oxidation, etc) a wax or sealant application is used as a protection against these, which polish cannot provide

If he's the head detailer, I'd hate to see the rest of the staff!!??

Once a week polishing is ridicioulus, unless you live within 5 feet of a volcano that errupts ash about every week. Remember what Polishing is intended to do and achieve. The wax and or sealant will be maintaining your earlier steps and protecting your paint.

with the way this industry is I dont know. Is there a polish/sealer combo out there maybe that he is talking about? I dont know for sure but there seems to be a LOT of combo products out there.
 
i dont know exactly the stuff he used because im pretty sure he used products not avaliable to the public. Ok here's a similar question that fits me more. would it be safe if i used a non-abrasive polish and waxed it every week
