polishing wheels

when you use a rag or applicator to polish your wheels or rims, do you do so in a circular motion or side to side motion?

When I'm polishing my chrome rims I see black after rubbing. Should I turn to a clean side and apply more polish and continue to rub until i see no more black? Or do I just do a first application and rub until i see black, then turn to a clean portion and polish until the black and polish are gone? What do you guys like to do?

For polishing metal, I use a circular motion to start, then go to a side to side motion.

I have two rags (a terry rag and a flannel cloth), one for applying the polish (terry) and to remove the black residue (flannel.) If I am not happy with the shine, I go over the area again. I work the polish in until its almost dry or if the section is black. Then take the flannel cloth and buff off this black residue.

My 2 cents,

Jason

I don't know if its just my wheels, or I haven't gotten them really clean ( Weld Racing Typhoons Polished Alloy ) but no matter how much I polish, it always turns black!

If you read the label on any metal polish, it will tell you it's supposed to turn black. That's what happens so you know when you've buffed enough. I just buff until it's pretty black, then buff off.

Also, I like using the blue magic metal polish over Zaino on my chromes. after putting on the blue magic, my wheels don't need near as much cleaning attention as before(w/the zaino!!)

Hope this helps!
