Polishing/Waxing Car Over Time...

I want to use some Swirl X, followed by a product like Ultimate Polish, then Ultimate Wax in an effort to reduce some minor swirling and light watermarks on the paint of my Jetta Sportwagen. Unfortunately, I will be applying by hand, and working outdoors. I've heard some people state that it's OK to apply these products over the course of several days (maybe a few panels at a time). Is this OK to do? Is it safe to assume that the car would need to be re-washed before each go-round of product?

What would be a good way to tackle a project like this? Apply all three products to each panel before moving on? Or tackle entire car with Swirl X, then move on to entire car with polish, then wax?

Thanks for your advice.

I've used this approach countless times. As long as you do attend to any dust/etc. that gets on the car between sessions, it should go fine.

If the car isn't driven between sessions, you can probably just ONR/etc.-wash whatever new area you're going to work on.

Do the entire process on each section so that you leave the area protected when you're finished with that work session.

Since doing this by hand might be a tall order, consider even doing it piecemeal over the course of several weeks. By tackling small areas at a time, it should be more easily managed.

You can always apply a final whole-vehicle coat of wax at the end so it's all uniformly LSPed at the end of the process.
