Hello to everyone here..I just ordered my PC today and have heard alot about the pads..What kinda pads, size should i get and what brand?also what kinda backing plate do i need..Can i pick some up at the local parts store?..Thanks for all the help in advance...Rodney

Most of the pads and backing plates have to be order off line.

Autogeek.net to name one of the major pad and backing plate distributor.

If you want simple pad combo. 6" backing plate with 6.5" Lake Country Flat Foam Pads. I use this combo and I love it. Pads are very durable and cheap!

Go to autogeek.net and look around at their pads. There are SOOO many options.

Depending on the condition of your paint (ie, swirls & scratches), will depend on the size off pad and plate you require.

Personally, I bought both the 3.5" & 6" backing plate from Sonus so that I can keep a wider variety off pads.

A basic rule of thumb : The smaller the pad, the more intense the polishing. as it concentrates on a smaller area at a time.

If your paint is really only in need of "maintenance" as it's already in good condition, then I would simply go for the 6" backing plate with pads.

Don't forget - there are different kinds off pads too. Mainly 3 types - compounding, polishing, and finishing

Hope this helps

PS. could be a little more helpful if you put what car you have, so we can specify how "intense" a pad you'll need ;)
