Polishing Molding/Same color as Paint

Hello,

I've received my PC 7424 and I have Lake Country Pads on the way. Haven't used it yet. I want to detail the wife's Mercury Mountaineer first. It needs it the worst. 2/3's the way down the doors is a wide (4 to 6 inch) molding that runs the length of both doors, on each side, that says "Mountainer" and it's the same color as the rest of it. They call it a Spruce Green. Can I polish it like the rest, with the 7424? Is it the same paint, only on plastic? Or do I tape it off and go around it with the PC.

Can't wait to get started. Hope my pads arrive by the weekend!

Thanks,

Dave

go ahead and treat it the same as the rest of your bodywork ...it should be the same paint as eveything else(although some cars have matte finish?)

the only instance where you can damage it , is abuse with a rotary..if you get the paint the really hot it can come off or get damaged, but thats only in extreme circumstances with a idiot behind the rotary!

good luck

Remember: on plastic trim, or bumpers the paint is usually thinner and more delicate because of the flex agents that allow it to be flexible on a soft surface!

So just be careful!

I gotta say that twice.

Great....just as I'm about to tackle my first PC experience (this weekend hopefully) you guys throw in something else to worry about :sadpace:

Thanks for the heads up though :xyxthumbs

Thanks Guys,

Good info....just what I needed to know. Even if I get the pads by this weekend, it doesn't look good for detailing. Supposed to get a couple feet of snow maybe. Figures. Guess I'll hafta go skiing one last time.

Wish I knew how to make the auto email thing work when there is a respnse to a question.
