Polishing and Waxing: hand vs pc?

Ok its late and this just came to mind. But how many of you use the pc to polish and then follow up the wax by hand? Or how many of you use the pc for both? Or none at all?

Currently I'm using the pc to polish (just bought mine so currently means I don't have any pads yet :() and waxing by hand. I'm just curious what everyones perticular style is when it comes to polishing and waxing. Thanks for your time.

Other than swirl removal, applying the products I use most often, (Klasse AIO & 4 Star UPP), is about as easy by hand as it is with the PC. I do use the PC for both sometimes, but I don't really think it is necessary. If I have the PC out to do swirl removal, I just switch to another polishing pad and do the AIO, then switch to a finishing pad to apply the UPP. It's possible that the PC lets you apply a more even coat of product and it might be faster, but for my use, it doesn't seem to make much difference. By the time I get out the PC, do the applications, put the PC away, and clean the pads I used, I think it takes about the same amount of total time.
IMO, the PC isn't needed for the AIO or the UPP.
For swirl removal, the PC is well worth the money. What was a difficult and tiring job by hand is no real effort at all with the PC.

I like to polish with the PC, but I like to apply my waxes/sealants by hand. I'm sure doing it by PC would be fine, I just prefer to do LSP's by hand.

Polish by machine, apply protectant by hand. Seems to be as quick in my mind, but I will try to apply LSP by machine one of these days.

My main concern personally was the fact that because im just starting out, I dont have a pc just yet, so I was wondering what that would have on my attempts at removing oxidization problems? Would I really be better off investing in a PC up front or would you say I would be fine for the time being?

You can do it all by hand, but you'd be a lot more effiient with the PC. I would say that if you can get one now without putting yourself in a financial bind, go for it. It's easily some of the best money I've ever spent.

Yes, PC is much more efficient. However, I just picked up a Cyclo and I have to say, it's awesome! I'm a little afraid to say this, as it may stir up a little drama from all the PC users, but it's a superior orbitor than the PC. Much easier to use in terms of removing scratches and swirls and more uses. You can use it to scrub carpet as well. So if you're thinking of purchasing a polisher, definitely look into the cyclo...a little more money but well worth it I think.

The Cyclo is probably a great unit and for a professional, it may be well worth the price difference. For a week-end detailer, the $100 plus may be a little hard to justify. Actually, it's close to 2-1/2 times as much as a PC from Lowe's.
There again, if it is a tool that you use to make your living, it might well be worth it.
:dunno
Either one is a big step up from doing it by hand.

I stay away from using the pc as much as possible due to swirl marks.

If the duco needs a hard buff then a pc is needed otherwise i apply by hand

No question, PC for both. It is a definite time saver when you have to wax two medium size SUV's per wax session; and you have no garage to do it in.
