Polishing a Porsche pt2

WOW. That's a big section you worked. I didn't see where the polish was layed down. Did you put it on your pad and then rub it around? I always work a real symetrical part of each panel and do things real differently. What ever works for you I guess.

I worked it around just slightly, enough to absorb it so it doesn't sling. I also usually work a certain section but the shape of that rear area is rather odd so I did the top portion, at first skipping the engine grill area and then moving on down the side....which would be the rear quarter panel.

Take care,

Anthony

Nice video once again!

I'm really liking the size of that Metabo. I thought it was a PC at first till I heard it hit warp speed!

What model is it?

It appears that you're turning the Metabo on/off with the pad *not* in contact with the panels, and yet you're not getting sling...huh...Is this due to the way you only need a tiny amount of OCP?

Nice videos, what brand is it on the blue pad? The green is a Propel right?

Thanks,

The blue pad is from Optimum, I believe Sonus and Propel offer the same pad, perhaps different color but I can't be certain.

Great videos Anthony..... keep 'em comin'!

In what situations do you use the DeWalt over the Metabo?

Thank you sir,

I usually use the DeWalt for my heavy work like leveling and I use the Metabo for the finish out work as it's much lighter and easy to control plus I can decrease the RPM's below 1000.

Thanks Justin,

This is an early model Metabo...the newer version has some more torque and is shped a bit different. It's a fantastic machine.

It's magic!!:getdown

The sling is very light and hardly noticible. The way the on/off switch is on the Metabo can give you at many times a false start. I like to start the pad on the paint but many times it doesn't work out that way.

Very little OCP is needed once you get the pad primed up a bit, especially when finishing out a panel. As long as you have a barrier of product between the pad and paint all is good.

Anthony- Heh heh, yeah , I already know that you have the magic touch ;)

Gotcha on the Metabo's switch..I recently got one and the PC-type switch is something I'm not exactly thrilled about, just not something I like as much as the trigger. Nice polisher though. But I'm still impressed that you don't have sling issues.

I gotta try the OCP with a finishing pad, I'm not getting the finish I want with a polishing pad (and yeah, I know that user-error is factoring in, big-time ;) but I figure the pad will help).

Anthony, that's the 'old' Metabo I have one too, you must try the new Metabo, a lot more of torque, balance and you will love it (I have one too ;))

jgv is talking about this Metabo:

Here I'm using it with a Lake Country finishing PAD and PO106FF in my car.

Regards.

I'm a little upset with this video Anthony. I was hoping for some more 80's cheese music to accompany the polishing! :p Maybe some Wham or Flock of Seagulls?! :rofl

Very cool to see the Metabo in action! The more I read about it the more I want one. But to see it in action was a big help. Thanks! :woot:
