Polishing a Car

I've been reading a lot of this information on here and some I get, but some I really can't comprehend even if I read it over and over because I can't understand the lingo. My whole problem is the pads, when do I use them and switch them, and what types of pads to use on certain scratches. Also I have a problem on products.

I've been looking and reading and come across info here and there, but it doesn't really help, can some give me some info on Pads and Products, etc. I'd really appreciate it, also sorry if this seems confusing (long day detailing)

Anyways, thanks I appreciate it!

AquaHawk- What part of it needs clarifying?

It's all "abrading". The pad/product combo "sands" the paint smooth same as sandpaper levels a piece of wood.

You use more aggressive pads (and/or products) for more aggressive work. Try a medium pad/product combo. If that doesn't do the job (in a timely manner) try a more aggressive combo. Repeat until you find what works for the given situation.

Example: you tri HD Uno with a medium pad and it doesn't do much. Next, try HD Cut on the same pad pad and see if that's what's called for. IF not, next try the HD Cut on a Meguiar's MF Cutting Disk (which is a pretty aggressive combo).

Then use a milder pad/product combo to finish-polish to whatever level of gloss you're after.

Example: after using the HD Cut/MF Cutting Disk you might try HD Polish on a medium pad. If that doesn't quite give you the gloss you want, try the HD Polish on a very soft finishing pad (which is a pretty mild combo).

Change/clean pads when they get loaded with cut-off paint and/or used/dried polish (and do it *very* frequently as they load up a lot faster than one might think).

Thanks, that was helpful. Only thing I wasn't clear on was how to really use the pads. But you summed it up pretty well for me. Thank you again. :)
