Polished Matte but want to go back to matte

Little bit complicated... I bought an 08 gsxr 1000 gloss and matte black bike. The owner had some overspray, swirls, etc on portions of the matte part of the bike. I tried multiple things to get rid of the overspray (clay bar, etc), finally being a newbie I decided to use the pc and polish knowing the part would become polished. I like the polished look but it doesn't match the rest of the bike. I thought I could use 2000 grit sandpaper but that does too much damage. What can I do to get the bike back to matte? 3000 grit? here's pictures for reference. polish was poorboys 2.5 and menzerna 106f. Any help would be appreciated!

what the matte should look like:

what the polish made it look like:

You probably need something even finer than 3000 grit; and even still it's probably never going to look exactly like it did originally unless it is refinished.

Try and use some soap and strip away any of the polish/fillers that are on the paint. That should help give it a more "dull" look.
