Polish and Wax

I am selling my car and want it too look its best. I plan on getting a polish and wax to help me with that. What do you recommend? I have a black Jeep Wrangler with very dull paint with light scratches.

For a polish i would go with Poorboy SSR's or optimum polish, and for a wax you cant really go wrong with NXT, #26, or nattys blue on black.

Otimum Polish topped with Poorboys Natty's blue! That will really make the black look deep and wet looking.

I've had good luck with Poorboys SSR's. I just recently switched to Optimum. ClearKote Vanilla Moose will also work good by hand. My goto wax it Poorboys Natty's blue or ClearKote carnuba. Both give a deep and wet look. Optimum Spray Wax or Aquawax work good and are very eash to apply.

Could someone tell me exactly what these products are called? I see that poorboys has a polish w/ caruba (blue) and also a natty paste wax (blue) and then they have SSR (which level? light, medium, heavy)?

Poorboys with carnuba is basically a paint cleaner with carnuba. The SSR1 is the light abrassive,SSR2.5 Medium,SSR3 is heavy.

The Natty's blue and carnuba blue are designed for darker colored cars.

If you haven't taken care of the vehicle and want it to look its best... and are doing it by hand... Meguiars ColorX is for you. Top it with any wax and it will "look great" to most buyers. ColorX works great on badly neglected paint. The other stuff being recommended needs a PC or rotary and some skill.

If I do polishing by hand I use the Lake Country foam applicators. They are 6x4 inches and they work great. ClearKote Vanilla Moose works great by hand and removes minor swirls and will bring out more shine. I like to top that with the ClearKote Carnuba wax or Poorboys Natty's. Make sure you use a good microfiber to buff the products off with.

If you want it to look its absolute best, tell us where you are from and likely somone will help you out with machine polishing. If you are not going to make this a hobbie, don't invest in all the products. There are many people on this board that would be happy to help you out for a small fee... possibly free.

I'm from Dallas Texas area. is there a good auto details around this area? i havent had a chance to search. i would like to know a few incase i mess up. but i would like to try and do whatever i can on my own. i enjoy washing and cleaning my car. the only thing i've done to this new car of mine and other old car was wash and dry. i have read many post here and once i understand how to polish and wax, i will start doing it myself. there's alot of bugs on the front bumpers and shoe marks on the side below the door that i would like to get rid of. i own a white scion tc and there's lots of shoe marks on both side of my car from getting in and out. any of you get this on their car? i clean it off once with a nail polish, but i dont know if that was a good idea. i dont think that's good for the clear coat. any advice will be helpful. thank you in advance. scott

I hear that the 1Z polishes are supposed to be the best for use by hand. Then wax with something with a lot of fillers(NXT).

Yep, 1z is my hands-down recommendation for working by hand. But I wouldn't use NXT, I'd use Collinite for the LSP as the NXT *might* (not "will", just "might") strip a little of the 1Z's fillers/wax/stuff. I know people who couldn't care less about detailing yet still get great results with this approach.
