plush vs less plush microfiber

Do people think using a lower nap/less plush towel is better for removng polish, sealants, waxes, and that plusher towels work better for QDing situations? If so, why?

When I say low nap or less plush, I'm referring to towels like the edgeless, which numerous vendors sell.

I think shorter nap would, since it seems to "cut" through the haze... my cobra polishing towels are basically microfiber towels with nearly no nap and good bite

The shorter knap towels definitely have more bite. The edgeless ones IMO have the most bite. If you're interested in some edgeless towels I have 5 of the Cobra Indigo ones for sale and 1 Dragon Fibre one for sale . . .

I like these towels a lot, but I'm running out of room in my garage. So, somethings gotta go and it sure isn't going to be the car.

Ah, now we're cooking. Why do you or others think this is?

well it seems to me that when i buff away polish the cobra indigo's just take it all in one stride. . . . my plush cobras just dont pick it up as fast, gotta make more passes . . . however i find the nappier , plusher MF's nicer for final buffing . . . does this make me a strange person . . .

I think having a shorter nap makes the fibers a little more stiff which allows them to cut through the residue easier than something with a long, flexible fiber.

I use my Adams towels (medium nap) for polish removal, Cobra Super Plush (long nap) for QD, and Cobra Indigo (tight nap)for wax removal.

Think of it a bit like hair after you shave.... It seems coarser, stiffer when it first starts growing back.. then it gets a bit softer the long it gets.. Same idea for the towels.... the shorter nap can't move around as much and isn't as flexible. Just my take.

Not by itself, but all that other stuff!!! LOL <kidding>

I think WW MF's have the most bite and work the best for initial buffing to remove 'wax' carrier, while the plusher, fluffier towels are tops for that final 'high pro glow' wipe down, QD or WOWO wax (like a DG Aquawax).

I also like the Waffle Weaves for the ONR washing I've just started doing.

My DF Towels have a long nap and remove wax / sealant effortlessly.... I like the Detailers Paradise Monster Fluffies for finishing...

My CG Elite Chubbies ( MF Banded ), have long nap one side short on the other...LOVE Them....... :2thumbs:

The only short-nap MFs I like are the suede-style ones (about as short as you can get ;) ), which I use to buff off certain LSPs, especially using bonnets on the Cyclo.

Other than those, I generally like using *plush* MFs for everything that I do by hand (excepting WWs for drying and glass) and I only use the plush side of those with short/long sides. So I guess I go for one extreme or the other.

This is a good explanation. Good responses from all of you.
