Please post your disclaimers

I've sent out my flier in the mail for the heck of it to a ton of family friends, many of whom are car enthusiats. Many have taken me up on my work based on the looks of my own car :D (Doing this on the side for extra $$$)

However (and this is a good thing) many of their neighbors are interested especially after the family friends put in a good word about my character as well as my work :D

So, I would need to include a disclaimer on the vehicle inspection report that I have generated. The customer would sign off on it. This way I can cover my a$$ even though I wouldn't anticipate problems.

What do you folks say or have written down. I would love to see so I can articulate a coherent disclaimer.

Thanks! :xyxthumbs

i stole this from somone on here... i think green monster.... "I work Magic, not Miracles" :D

Just do somthing like " (name of company) is not responsable for any damnages exceeding $100)

cover some of it, but not all. The customer will think nothing over 100 can happen.

While detailing can make a dramatic improvement in a vehicle's appearance, it cannot correct deep scratches or peeling clear coats, and some interior stains may be permanent. Swirl and buffer marks can be removed or dramatically reduced in most cases. We also use clay detailing when needed to remove imbedded dirt and paint overspray. We can also remove most paint oxidation as well. Only a complete visual inspection can determine what defects can be corrected and those that cannot. Because vehicle conditions can vary greatly, our pricing policy is a only a general guideline.

I was thinking more along the lines of:

Not responsible for personal items

Not responsible for previous caused damage

etc..., etc...

I am talking about a disclaimer to cover your a$$ liability wise.

I have the "Because vehicle conditions can vary greatly, our pricing policy is a only a general guideline" already.

Thanks

Not sure about your state but in MI there are some rights that a person can not sign away. One is that if you take my car and charge me $ to do something to it you are responsible for what happens to it while it is in your "care, custodty & controle".

A "garage liability" insurance policy covers this exposure for the detailer.

Dont count on a disclaimer, no matter how "iron clad", solving all problems that may arise.

A good walk around, & visual inspection with the customer when you get the car would probably mean as much. Plus some people, me included, would be put off by having to sign something to get their car cleaned.

I understand. Just thought I'd see if it would be wise to list something on my vehicle inspection report that I have the customer sign. I do a good walk around and make any notes of concern. Again, I'm not a professional, just making extra $$$ on the weekend by traveling to their home.

I simply put two things so far:

Not responsible for personal items left in the vehicle

Not responsible for any prior damage done to the vehicle

I went to three local detail places and asked for their brochures. Both had that as well as indicating that they are not responsible for paint burns from high speed buffer on refinished surfaces AND not responsible for mechanical failures as a result of engine cleaning.
