Please help with detailing.

My silver paint is in good shape. Only the hood, roof and trunk have spirals and require polishing. For these I am considering using ScratchX by hand. I would then like to use a cleaner wax to mildly clean the paint, and then wax.

1. Hood, roof, trunk (ScratchX)

2. Cleaner Wax

3. Wax

Is this a good or proper plan?

-Thanks ;)

Tape up a 1'x1' section and try out ScratchX. You'll likely be frustrated beyond belief just doing that area by hand. It can be done, but you need the patience of a saint and the arm power of Popeye. You also won't need a cleaner wax after using ScratchX. If a RO polisher is out of the budget for now, consider using something like Autoglym SRP to minimize the swirls until you can save up.

I wouldn't recommend polishing by hand, it is not worth the effort... better save up for a DA or PC. Right now, just go the cleaner wax + carnauba to fill up the swirls. Don't forget to clay before waxing =).

I'd rather do by-hand work with Ultimate Compound, even if it sounds like it'd be overkill. Well, unless we're talking stupid-soft clear.
